Super Suggestion: make your subconscious listen

      Hi All,

I used a method last night which seemed to work pretty well, though I LD regularly so maybe this was not the only thing that made it work. I have often used the regular suggestion method, simply telling myself in my head that I'll realize I'm dreaming (as explained in the MILD tutorial). But last night I tried something a little more involved.

I call it 'super suggestion' and it works like this:

Think a short phrase as "loudly" as possible in your head while:
      1. Breathing in deeply from your nose
      2. Closing your eyes and rolling them back slightly
      3. Clear your mind of all but the phrase

I used the following phrase pattern last night:
      1. "I will realize"
      2. "I am dreaming"
      3. "So mote it be."

Do this while you are falling asleep. The idea is to get this message permeating more of your brain than just the superficial conscious layer.

yeah you are right, the MILD tutorial has the exact words I used "I will realize I am dreaming" but what I'm hoping might be new (and what was new to me) was the specific combination of breathing and timing with which to do the incantation.

as far as 'dream hacker' goes its a term i made up and cause it sounds cool. actually I'm a programmer and I find that the same sort of 'hacking' strategy that works when coding is applicable to lucid dreaming. so since you can be whatever you want to be on the internet that's what I am, a dream hacker.

What lucid dreamer isn't a dream hacker? I guess it's not as cool on a forum full of lucid dreamers lol.

I don't think the problem is that it's not cool, I think that the problem is that it's too cool for me considering I just popped on to the forum and usually you are supposed to post a lot before you can have a title or anything.

Do you think that sleep paralysis is lucid NREM or lucid sleep onset or something completely other? I've been wondering about that.

Esc are you a freemason or witch? Or is there another reason you use the phrase so mote it be?

I just used that cause I noticed that it was a part of a lot of "spells" and I feel like there is a lot in common with the practice of spell chanting and lucid dream induction. I'm currently doing a bunch of research on how various traditional and modern forms of magic approach lucid dreaming and dreamwork.

So the point of 'so mote it be' is to kind of end the incantation in a serious way, like a full stop at the end of your message to your subconscious.

I always felt funny using the word "mote" since it isn't really part of the modern language that I was raised with and therefore felt unaffective for me. I prefer to say "so be it".

I think a part of the appeal of it for me is the exact reason you dont want to use it, which is that it isn't a word I usually use, so I feel like it can take on this new meaning. Thanks for all the info in your other post, dannon.
