Well this thread is about 2012... I agree that the internet and globalization are important advances, but are they just not part of normal human advancement which has been going on since we started making fire? How is it any different from the creation of writing, or the discovery of the New World by Europeans, or the invention of radio... How is it different from possible future advances, like virtual reality of the colonization of space? Why is this time period so special?

I would distinguish our current trend of globalization from previous colonization in that we are slowly unifying into one single society during this period. This is a big deal, to me. As far as comparing inventions, I'm not going to claim the internet is more important than fire. But the internet has been a tremendous aid in the new globalization trend.Quote:

When did I say that? I simply said the date was determined mathematically based on our Galactic Cycle. It doesn't need to have anything to do with current events. Math gave us the date, if there is something significant tied to this date it would not happen on the mathematically proposed time but would manifest through Complexity and therefore would not be perfectly predictable.

The equinox is a time of the year where our planetary position in the solar system is the same. This enables us to observe our position in the Galaxy and how it has changed since the last Equinox. I don't see how this is so difficult to understand.
It is astronomy. The predictions may be astrology but I wasn't talking about that. I was talking about a mathematically determined Galactic Cycle which the Mayans would measure on the Equinox.
