Hey SKA, have you any personal experiences with chakra healing? Emotional or physical? Or anyone else for that matter? I'm just interested in what people have experienced.

Kind of several times, both blocking and healing experiences.

I had had a crushing, suffocating block on my heart chakra due to denying myself being in love with a girl I know, friend of mine. Since it wouldn't even happen(we tried, but she's just too deatachable as I'm too attachable) I just willingly refused being in love with her, I didn't want to get hurt with that just as I didn't want to bother her being obsessive about a girl again. It got to the point I couldn't communicate with my emotions anymore, all I could hear were moans of pain and frustration and "I LOVE HER"s or things like that. I just kept trying to work it out trying to erease that feeling from my heart 'till the day I gave up and chose to listen kindly to whatever my heart would like to tell. I medidated strongly wanting to release all of my held back feelings and had a weeping painful screaming nightmare.

I'm pretty much fine the next day and my heart is not that choked as it would be.

Am I doing it right?

Yes I had a very powerfull chakra healing experience once, guided by a friend's father.
He straightened my spine and urged me to chant repeatedly for quite a long time.

I felt my chakra blockades tighten, become more evident. Like knives in my chest, like barbed wire within my chest tightening around my heart. It got more and more intense as I chanted longer and longer. Then suddenly a large amount of blocked energy came loose and was released, instantly shooting up through my head and out of me. As it flowed through my head I became totally sedated and emotionally/ mentally confused.

The sedation was as intense as smoking 3 really fat joints of strong cannabis within 1 minute. My thoughts were scrambled and slowed down. And I was overcome by strong emotions. Mostly grief.

When this cleared it was like the world was taken off of my shoulders.

Ska! thank you so much for this. i do chakra meditation almost everyday, and its one of the greatest things ive ever done with my life.

i didnt realize there were chants for each chakra. im definitely going to start doing this. Thank you!

Care to explain your personal way of Chakra healing and meditation?

I've heard that it's best to open them from bottom to top. What do you think about that?

I heard exactly the opposite. And I think it makes sense. A plant doesn't start growing from flowers either. It starts from the root.

If you follow the chakras from the bottom upwards it makes alot more evolutionairy sense:
First we learn to survive(root chakra), then we learn to feel/enjoy(sacral chakra) then we learn to act (Solar plexus), then we learn to love(heart chakra), then we learn to be truthfull(Throat chakra), then we learn to gain insight(Third eye) and then we learn to Understand/Transcend.(Crown Chakra)

This makes sense because; Only when we master Survival, can we begin to Enjoy life. Only when we enjoy life, can we form the willpower nececairy to act powerfully, only when our willpower and it's acting is strong enough are we able to withstand the effort and hardship of Loving. Only when we are filled with love, can we be truthfull. Only when we are truthfull, can we begin to see things for what they are. And off course only when we see things for what they are, can we begin to understand/transcend them.

The other way around, doesn't seem to be as loigcal to me.

In the end I think it's desirable to be well connected to both earth(through the root Chakra) and heaven(Through the Crown chakra)

certainly.

i usually sit on my bed cross legged with my hands together resting in my lap. i keep my back straight, close my eyes and breath in through my nose for about 4 seconds, and then out my mouth for about for seconds. i breath into my lower abdomen. i then just clear all the thoughts from my mind and after awhile ill start with the base chakra.

I imagine a red lotus blossoming in my lower pelvic area, then i imagine it transforming into a huge ball of red energy. i focus on the red energy until i feel i have balanced that chakra enough, then i move to the next chakra doing the same exact visualization except with the new color of that chakra and the new location. the whole meditation i breath in though my nose and out through my mouth.

for some reason every time i reach the 6th chakra, the third eye chakra, there's this insane chill that starts in the center of my head then moves down my back and then through out my entire body, it feels INCREDIBLE. sometimes it will pulse and ill just keep having that feeling over and over for a couple seconds and then its over. its truly quite amazing, have you ever experienced anything like that??

once ive balanced every chakra, i focus on every chakra at once and make them very bright, then i visualize my entire body encircled inside a ball of energy shortly after that i usually end my meditation. all in all it takes about an hour, and at the end i feel AMAZING! just on top of the world and fully rejuvenated.

I'm going to post my honest reaction with this type of stuff. I am very "in the dark" with this type of stuff. Is it a type of magic? I was taught through childhood this type of activity is demonic. I have no idea what it really is, but to be honest it spooks me and I am not sure what it's purpose is? Although my original views on life and creation is different than it once was (christianity) I still get an eerie feeling about this type of exercise.

I know I could research it, but could someone just explain briefly what it is and it's purpose? Thanks.

Until very recently I was just like you.... my ideas about spirituality came from movies showing eastern people meditating... movies probably made by people who know nothing about meditation etc.

But just recently, thanks to this site actually, I've started to look into it. In fact I've just now been investigating a very helpful site, posted up near the top of this thread by our friend SuperUltimateSupremeMega (or whatever)... probably the one positive post he made on the site. When you place your attention somewhere in your body, you can feel that it's not just your perception that is focused there. Something else is happening. Energy is displaced to that area. It is possible to measure this: the temperature of the spot you focus your attention on will rise. The Chinese say that "Chi follows Yi," where "Yi" is the mind or intention/attention.

The whole site is really excellent. Very eye-opening, and I think a great place to start looking into spiritual ideas. Looks like this stuff really is pretty practical and real, not just crazy talk.

Jorge, it is not uncommon for people to fear the unknown. Thus they label it demonic, however this is very misplaced and xenophobic.

Chakra healing is actually a way to heal yourself from negative energy(which is what you might call Satan). It does so by using positive energy(which you might call God).
It seeks to get rid of evil by cultivating and growing positive energy. All meant to be a better channel for God, unhindered and undistracted by Satan's work.

It's purpose is the same purpose Christians, Jews and Muslims have to pray. It's only a different path, but to the same goal.

But let's not turn this into a discussion about beliefs; Let's share Chakra healing methods as this topic was intended.

I did a search last night about chakra healing and found a site saying that if you've never opened your chakras before you should go slow and easy... to force them open will be a shock and could make them shut down for a month or more.

It said you might only get them partly open at first, and a little farther each time.

Also important... after opening each one for a while, close it again before moving on to the next. You don't want to walk around with them wide open.


Actually, what I found as a first-timer is some of them were hard to lock my mind onto and focus on. I'm guessing these are the ones I most need to open. Hope this qualifies as practical info for beginners.

That actually makes sense. You're not just opening them, you're stretching them so they loosen up.

Thank you SKA & DarkMatter, this whole chakra thing does interest me. However, from how you guys talk about it, it seems "very" strange. lol

From my studies, there is no syllable associated with the crown chakra.

I made a little mnemonic phrase to remember them (doesn't have the crown that you mentioned, obv.)

To enLighten; Vigorously Rinse Your Head Out

Pertaining to what DarkMatters said, energy meditation is definitely not something to be taken lightly. It is easy to do too much or try to push past blockage without clearing it and this can lead to tangible physical effects that can be distressful. When I first started trying to meditate on my energy I did not know much about chakras and the flow of things. Every time I meditated, my body would heat up considerably to the point of sweat literally pouring off my body (while sitting nearly naked in a cool room) and I would feel incredibly sick to my stomach until I couldn't do it any longer.

Hey Xaq, thanks for the mnemonic! I'm still struggling to remember the colors of all the chakras. But it helps to remember it's like a prism or a rainbow... red, orange, yellow, green, blue purple. If you know color theory it makes perfect sense - each color flows from the last one. I'm not sure of the color for the crown one though.

I noticed after doing this last night that when I went to bed I had something like a sustained adrenaline rush in my heart.. not a bad or scary feeling, but pretty intense.

Jorge, try not to look at it as weird spiritual stuff, but think of it like this...

It comes from ancient tradition in the far east, where they've always had an emphasis in quiet internal contemplation as opposed to western tradition which has an emphasis on the exterior. They understand that if you concentrate your attention quietly on some part of your body you can affect it physically. There are advanced yogis who can literally stop themselves from bleeding through fresh cuts just by focusing their mind on the area.

I'm also coming from a christian background, this kind of chakra and energy healing was very strange and foreign to me. But over the years I've learned a lot, and there is really nothing to be afraid of, even for a christian

According to tradition:
The chakras are centers of energy within your own body. They are a natural part of your own body, as natural as your hands and feet and all your organs. The chakras are within the energy body. The energy body is a part of the physical body (think of all the energy your brain produces, you have an energetic part to your body!)

This energy body is essential to life, is an essential part of every natual process within your body, and it it comes 'first'. If anything comprises your energy body, then your physical body has been comprised. It's believed that phsyical diseases are FIRST manfiested as a disease in the energy body.

The chakra/energy system function a lot like the nervous system. There is a delicate web connecting all of your chakra points spanning your entire body. The major chakras are intimately connected to all of your major organs.

Your chakra body isn't just essential to the health of your physical body. They are also a part of your emotional 'body' as well. Not only does each chakra relate to one or many organs, each chakra also relates to a type of emotion or being.

Sounds confusing doesn't it? But you've experienced it before! Imagine being nervous and anxious! Where did you feel this anxiety? In your gut right? Butterflies in the stomach? That's the solar plexus chakra. Or ever been so angry, your throat tightens up? There's a chakra there too. And it literally means you're angry because you aren't voicing your opinion!

The point I am trying to get at is, according to this tradition, chakras are a natural part of your body. It's not like magick, or summoning some sort of power outside of your self. It's just the opposite, this would be your God-given power.

Just like we can comprimise our body, we can comprismise our chakras. Sometimes our chakras need healing. The benefit is, as we heal our chakras and allow the energy to flow in them freely, we heal ourselves. And the energy that flows through the chakras? That is pure spirtiual energy that is.

And if you use this pure spiritual energy to do "bad" things, well you create a block in your chakras that limits how much energy you can recieve. So by design, chakras are "good" and never "bad"

But what do I know? I'm still a chakra noob





oh yeah and, thanks guys for posting your experiences! I've been wanting to do chanting with chakra work. But I can't find any privacy these days :/

Juroara, speaking the syllables out loud is beneficial but not essential. You can 'speak' them with your mind's voice and it will still be effective. It helps me to still engage the muscles in order to really imagine the sound properly, but even that isn't necessary when you have done it enough to know what the feeling of "om" or "ommmnngg" is.

I also use the hindu gayatri mantra in meditation. I talked to a bhutanese guy I used to work with about it, and he told me that it is not traditional for an individual to speak mantras out loud.


I forgot to comment on this earlier; just as Darkmatters said, you may not open your chakras on the first try, and the more regularly you can do it the easier it will be. This is something that I have a lot of trouble with. Fortunately, my life will soon be changing in a drastic enough way that if I am diligent, I will be able to focus on it much more.

I appreciate it very much, and I have experienced 1 of the 2 you mentioned! The gut one of course, but as for the madness I can't recall...but it's most likely because I ALWAYS voice my opinion lol whether good or bad.

I found personally that the blocking of the heart chakra in experiences of deep grief to have been most pronounced. Also willpower/shame related sensations I have indeed felt as a tightening of my solar plexus area.

It was also very typical how, when this friend's father was assisting me in chanting chakra healing, that I received visions of my heart being trapped in a web of energy strands, hard and sharp like knives. As I chanted this looser and looser, alot of it released, launched upwards, went through my head and left me through my crown chakra.

It was striking that when this energy shot through my head I was overcome with a tsunami of very intense grieving thoughts and feelings. SO much it "intoxicated" me for quite a while.

I had sort of the same thing happening to me... I don't fall very easy in love, but when I do, I give in too much... And the 2 people I've ever loved had been the same way in the sense that they are sooooo Freaking detached!! It almost seems like they don't care... its been aweful...

I think its been blocking my heart chakra... I can feel this sort of pain in my heart... I know I'm ok physically so Its not like I'm having a heart attack!! its more like this warm pain in that area...

also.. I fantazise too much... somewhere I read ilusion blocks the third eye chakra so this topic is becomming really interesting to me...

I hadn't been able to astral project in a veeery long time, and I think it was due to sooo much blockage.. ever since I started working a little on my chakras, my inner problems and just letting go of the past, I've had a couple of cool experiences with LD and AP...

So any more suggestions to clear blockages from the third eye and heart are GREATLY appreciated

A good way of clearing blockades is to realise the opposites;
In case of fear blocking the root chakra; Realise/meditate uppon the Right to Live.
Find the courage to overcome the fear that holds you back.

In case of guilt blocking the sacral chakra realise the Right to pleasure. Forgive the things you blame yourself.

In case of shame blocking the solar plexus, realise the Right to act. Don't be a perfectionist and don't be affraid to fail. Don't let the fear of failure make you hesitant and incertain about your actions. Find the audacity to act powerfully and effectively, unaffraid of potential failure.

In case of Grief blocking the heart chakra, Realise the Right to love( and beloved)
Let go of the feeling of loss of love, by realising love will come back to you many times in many different forms. Find comfort in that realisation. There are many more fish in the sea right?

In case of lies blocking the Throat Chakra, realise the right to Truth.
Because of fear, guilt, shame and grief( that which can block the lower chakras) we are sometimes not honoust with ourselves. Uplift this by being intuitively honoust with yourself. Intuition knows the truth. Listen to it.

In case of Illusion blocking the Third Eye, Realise the right to see(things for what they are) You have the right to see the true nature of existance. Let go of seeking pleasure and instead prefer to seek truth. Use your undivided focussed attention. Keep fantasy, thoughts and opinions out of the way to percieve reality clearly, openly and truthfully to uplift the barrier of illusion.

In case of Earthly attatchment blocking the Crown Chakra, realise the right to understand/transcend. Realise that allthough earthly pleasures are precious, they come to an end and will have to make way for an equally precious non-material continuation of your existance. Let go of earthly pleasures by relativation, realising that what we will get in return holds equal value and potential.
