      MyCooky's Workbook

      Hi!
I'm MyCooky, I first started LDing a year ago,
but now I really want to get practice.
I have a DJ, but still bad recall.
The forum has helped me out a lot already,
and now I want to join here...

      Reality Checks:
-Asking myself: "How did I come here" (and similar questions)
-Shooting a fireball with my hands
      -Looking at my hands

      Dream Signs:
      -My school

      Short-Term Goals:
      -Get more experience with DEILDs
      -Get more MILDs
      -Become more aware

      Long-Term Goals:
      -Mastering DEILD
      -Have a LD/week
-Being able to practice the Piano and Horn in my dreams

      Lucid/Dream Recall History:
-I only recall the dream I wake up from
      -3 LDs last 3 weeks.. (2 DEILDs, 1 DILD)
-7 LDs a year ago before I stopped LDing
-DJ (I have to wake up ~30min early to be able to write in it)

      Current Technique:
      -MILD + DEILD + WBTB

      Progress:
      [x] Have a DJ

No way, I play piano and horn too! Well, piano still, but I stopped playing the french horn after college. What a cool idea to try it in an LD.

Anyway, welcome to the class, workbook looks great. So you have experience with DEILDing already, that's great. How did you go about it, just curious.

Really? Wow, thats cool. Any tips on the horn? Because it's rather hard to convince myself doing all the boring exercises...
I have started playing the french horn only 2 years ago though

Well I read a tutorial and then i thought DEILD chaining would be awesome, because if you can have 10 LDs after another that's awesome...
And then I just try everytime I wake up to remain in my position.
Often I just feel it won't work, and sometimes I feel it will.

Now after 1 night I can only say that establishing a nighttime routine is going to be tough, not because of the DJ, but because I go to bed everyday at different times and I sometimes do afternoon naps, because I'm not feeling very well right now. I usually wake up ~3 times, at 7:00 am I usually can't sleep any longer.

EDIT: Sadly I don't remember a dream for tonight, also I couldn't DEILD...

Hey that's cool actually Cooky! When I first had my son, and had really horrible night sleep, I took naps alot during the day. And I had alot of lucids during those naps. I basically treated those naps like a really belated WBTB. Lots of members do this, so it's something to think about.

Also, I hope you feel better soon

Hmm. Forgot to make RCs on weird situations, even though I had quite a few today. I have a very bad prospective memory, I often have to realyize this. Any suggestions?
But I keep a dice in my pocket always, to remind of doing RCs. This has worked in a great way though.

I'm going to post the list for motivation here:
      I want to LD because:
-I can practice my instruments in a dream
-I can live my dreams as if they were real
      -It's fun
      -It's refreshing,
      -It's relaxing,
-It's something outside the daily routine
-I can get to know me better
-I can enjoy going to bed and sleeping more,
      -My nighttime doesn't feel 'wasted'
-My LDs will inspire my music
-I can learn from my LDs

What Am I going to do in my next LD?
In my next LD I'm just going to sit in a couch and relax drinking cool water and meditating and just feel happy, while listening to music.

Well in naps, you go directly to REM, that's why many people utilize it for WILDs. But really, since it's kind of like an instant WBTB, you can pair any technique with it.

Some general tips i can give you with naps are:
•If you're tired, don't force it (esp if you're attempting WILD). You will have higher chancws of lucidity if you're in a better state of mind.
•Try to recall your goals before sleeping. This will help you kind of insist on your subconscious to remember, and give it an ultimatum for when you start dreaming.
•Naps, and sleep in general, are always best spent in your most comfortable position. So find a position you really like, and stick with that. You dont want to wake up prematurely (and maybe in the middle of a lucid dream) due to an aching neck or back.

      Good luck!

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.

Big Update (I have been in Naples for a day, school has started again, I was and am very busy...):
Had 1 short lucid dream 2 days ago.
Still struggling with establishing a night-time routine, my life just doesn't allow that
(Going to try that while doing Lesson II)
Anyway I'm going to go to Lesson II now:

      For a technique to practice
I'm not really sure what to choose, I have experience with DEILD...
I'm definetly not going to do any sort of WILD, I tried it quite a few times,
and I hated it, hadn't shown a single effect on me...
I guess I keep practicing ADA and DEILD - when going to bed I'll use the mantra:
"I will wake up during my dream" to have more DEILDs and I'm also hoping for some DILDs.

Hey, hope you had a good time in Naples!

You know, if you have had some success with DEILD already, that might be the best method for you to focus on now. Since you already know what the transitions felt like for you, you should be able to figure out how to recreate the experience with practice.

And I wouldn't worry about WILD. You know, the first time I read about WILDs, I had no clue what anyone was talking about. I mean, I had never experienced any of the possible levels: vibrations, sounds, hallucinations, SP, what?! I had only ever DILDed, and that just happened spontaneously in an already established dream. Then 8 years later, I started having WILDs. But I didn't obsess over it for all those years, I just kept going with the method that worked for me at the time. So you never know what the future will bring. As long as you're working on getting lucid, it'll happen. And the method might even change over the years. It's a really interesting journey!

Sure, Naples is a wonderful city!
(Everyone should visit Italy once in their life - and don't miss out on Naples )

So I'm going to stick with DEILD
      and all-day-awareness.
      Thanks for your help.

      Oh hi!
      Sorry I didn't notice that...
Well for the DEILDs I don't really have that much progress.
I think I have to restart for progress, the last few days I was unable to write in my DJ,
also I had to go late to bed often, etc.
So no recall for the last ~5 days.

Also I don't practice ADA anymore, instead I often do RCs (~30 a day), also I'm in the progress of creating a tulpa.
(http://www.dreamviews.com/tulpa-land...-workbook.html, Wonder if that could help me LDing)

But I'm optimistic, I think in the next two weeks I'll have more progress.

      Wow, I'm back, sorry...
I know, I allways think I'll have time to post here and then...

Well, I'm just going to post my update:
Still trying to DEILD, 1 success last week.

I think I'll take lucid dreaming more slowly than before.

No worries, MyCooky, thanks for the update! Taking things slow is just fine -- it's not a race and nobody's keeping score. You can avoid some of the mistakes that I tend to make. I get so excited about lucid dreaming that I have a tendency to run myself a little harder than I should when I might be feeling tired, worn out, or under the weather.

Congratulations on the successful DEILD! I'm glad that tech is still delivering for you. I know that you're not into WILDing, but if you stick with practicing DEILD, you never know. A solid DEILD practice is a great introduction to a lot of what you need for WILD, so your DEILD work may eventually pay off in more ways than you imagine.

And I am greatly amused that PennyRoyal has taken over your sig.

Welcome back MyCooky! Like CL said, glad DEILD is still working for you. And nothing wrong with taking things slowly. When you go slower, you are able to take the time to notice more landmarks. Then you can find your way again easier the next time.

I'm still hoping I can take revenge against him.

I'm having really bad nightmares in the last few days, I'll use them as a Dream Sign.
They were really brutal, like blood everywhere, it was mostly about me not being able to save others from death.

Some day! The man is in a wicked hot streak right now. I'm certainly steering well clear of challenging him to anything at the moment.

Ah, sorry about all of the nightmares! Those do sound rough.

If you're like me, you'll find that really unpleasant nightmares will tend to come to your mind every so often over the next few days. This isn't a lot of fun, but what I recommend doing whenever this happens is to immediately imagine yourself becoming lucid, realizing that it's all a dream, taking control, and turning the experience into whatever you wish it to be (whether you want to ask the nightmare figures what they represent or whether you'd rather simply leave.) Hopefully this will get your mind trained up and into the groove of what you want to happen the next time one of these sneaks up on you.

Good luck, and I hope that the dreams become more pleasant!

I'll definetly try and do that.
As for today I had a semi-nightmare, it could have turned into something worse,
but it was just about me not being able to do what I wanted, an that many different times throughout the dream.
I think I'll have to interpret that as another long-term dream sign,
I often want to do something in a dream and nearly allways there is something that obstructs me.

Lemme just pop in and say two things:

      1. Welcome MyCooky!

      2. Expectation, and expectations are important. They are important, in that you should never have any, but you should be able to use them whenever necessary. Secretly, your mind wills obstacles into your path. You can choose to change that. Tell yourself to expect nothing, and have no expectations; then everything is possible. It works in dreams, and in waking life as well.

I'm glad that this nightmare wasn't quite as bad as the last one. Feeling stuck and powerless is such a common theme of dreams... and it feels fantastic to break away from that feeling in lucid dreams. The experience of going from powerlessness or fear to knowing you have all the power in the world... it's amazing!

How have things been going for you lately?

In other news, your avatar is making me hungry. Seriously.

Ok so I'll start from new here, and hey, I'm back.

      Method:
1 Wild or SSILD attempt each night
after that setting a 3sec alarm every 15 mins
(Thanks to VagalTone for the tip)

      Reality Checks:
-Simply wonder if this is a dream...
-Shooting a fireball with my hands

      Dream Signs:
      -Don't know any

      Short-Term Goals:
      -either WILD/SSILD succesfully
      -have 10 min long LD

      Long-Term Goals:
      -2 LD/day
      -30 min long dreams
-have very vivid dreams in general

      Lucid/Dream Recall History:
-I only recall the last dream each night.
      -3 LDs this week
-In total I think ~30 LDs
-I still have to start my DJ, I think I'll start one tomorrow on this site.

      And that's it.
