      Post realdealmagic's Workbook

And so the fun begins again!

I'm back from my hiatus, for whatever reasons I was on it I don't know, but I must've had some excuse. I started thinking about my dreams a few days ago and decided it's time again to start this journey... Again again again.

      My Goals
      • Attain Lucidity long enough to properly experience my dream, with all sensory awareness
      • Fly, ofc
      • Element control, because err'body gotta get some o'dat
      • Update my workbook relentlessly, with well written responses that may be interesting to the eye. Or ear, depending on whether you use Text-to-Speech or not.
      • Recall 3-4 dreams per night, with natural wakings
      • DILD, MILD, WILD, and all of their variations. Give me them all.

So yes, here I am, back for more and ready to entertain the populous with my musings of dream-states and various scenes of my subconscious craziness.

      Enjoy!

      What's going on here?!

So over the past couple of sleeps I've noticed a few things that I need to sort out. I will give myself weekly assignments in this form each week, and then evaluate at the end of the week to see how I'm doing.

      My Assignments
      • Start RC'ing regularly, possibly use phone as a reminder.
      • Write in my dream journal, ensuring to write in it every awakening, regardless of my state of recall.
      • Re-regulate my sleeping pattern to coincide with my school times. I'm on holiday just now so have been going to bed late, that has to stop.
      • Start getting into the mindset of dreaming before going to sleep rather than just hitting the sack and falling straight asleep.

      My Achievements
      • I recalled a pretty long dream this morning, one in which I was driving a car. I also woke up in the middle of the night and remembered a dream then. I have written neither in my dream journal since I didn't have it next to me. Need to start having it with my at all times. See Above...

That should do me for now, I will let these last until this coming Sunday, then put up new/the same assignments on Monday. This is the format my workbook will take from this point forward!

      Midweek Update

      Idea!

Part of my plight on my last few attempts at lucid dreaming were that I was never actually consistent with my Reality Checks. I would have good days and bad days and days when there were none (included under the umbrella of "bad). So today I had the idea of setting my phone up to help me out. This isn't, however, a notification from an app. I find that with that kind of thing you become too dependent on the notification to set you up to do any kind of reality check. Instead, I've done the following:

      Ij2jzbv.jpg

This means that instead of waiting for a notification to set me up to RC, I will relate looking at my phone to RCing. I did this today and have already started to just check instinctively when I pull out my phone. It's a strange thing to observe. So this should lead to further success!

      Midweek Update #2

      Check Yo' Reality, Bro!

      Idea: Phase 2

The idea from my previous entry is still going well. I still end up doing an RC every time I look at my phone, along with becoming more aware of my surroundings to question them and questioning how I got to where I am.

This, to me, doesn't seem like enough though. No. What I've started to incorporate into my day is that whenever I think about dreams or anything similar, or somebody brings them up, I will look at my hands. This happens quite frequently. This will mean I am RCing many times throughout the day, so they'll transfer quickly across to my dreams as a habit.

      Thoughts

My dream recall is steadily improving, and I will be settling myself back to a regular 10:30pm-7am sleep pattern as I'm going back to school. This'll help me out in the long run because I'll get plenty of sleep, and will get into a routine (which the brain loves) to get myself waking up naturally throughout the night.

It seems that being on DV chat is both a blessing and a curse. It's a blessing because obviously, people talk about dreams there. It acts as both motivation, and a place to learn new things. It's incredible the kind of determination you can get through talking directly to experienced lucid dreamers.
It's a curse because I don't want to leave. Whenever I'm on my computer late at night, I tend to gravitate towards the chat, and I get caught up in talking about lucid dreaming which makes me just not want to go to sleep at all. Sounds counter-productive, and it definitely is! The fact that DVA classes on chat tend to be so late is another factor in this unfortunately, because I just don't want to miss them. It tends to be the peak points for activity on lucid dreaming.

      Week 1

      My Assignments
      • Continue to Reality Check regularly, keep it up!
      • Get into the regular school sleeping schedule of 10:30pm to 7am.
      • Continue to write in my dream journal through every awakening.
      • Try to program myself to wake up naturally after every dream to boost recall.

      My Achievements
      • I've been RCing regularly and have noticed myself doing it more frequently throughout the day, at least twice an hour. Keeping it up!
      • I've been focusing on dreams more as I head to sleep, putting a lot of emphasis on their importance to my subconscious.
      • I've managed to keep on updating my workbook regularly this week, keep that up too!

I will continue my workbook in this form, with weekly assignments and midweek updates on them!

Hey realdeal, so nice to have you back in the game!

As far as #DVA chat times go, I can do earlier classes. It's just that the 12am GMT time is the most popular time. But I don't mind scheduling an earlier time as well. Especially if it gets more Europeans on. What time do you normally go to bed?

      Recall and Dreamsigns!

I'm remembering more of my dreams, and what I do remember is far more vivid since I started putting my energy into remembering my dreams when I still wake up. This is a good thing! I still struggle to write a lot down though, so I'll have to work on that some more.

Through remembering my dreams I've noticed a couple of dreamsigns I should keep an eye out for:
      • Driving, whether it be in someone else's car or in "my own". Being in a car has happened to me in 3 dreams over the past two nights.
      • Work. My work (on the railway) has come up a couple of times as well, along with the some people from there.
      • My Dad. He seems to have been in a few of my dreams as well, once I was in his car, and another time he was at my work (he's technically my boss).

      LUCIDITY: ACHIEVED

I did it! I finally did it!
I had my first 2 lucid dreams last night, one of them a DILD, and another an FA (but that ended as soon as I realised I was dreaming, which was as soon as I "woke up" and did my RC).

I had good control over my body, but it hit home how hard it was to "expect" things simply because of how real it all was. The surreal seemed impossible (which is why I ended up not being able to fly) so that's something to work on.

Just wanted to check in and tell y'all! :

      Midweek Update #3

      Recall 'dem Dreams!

My recall is on the rise, I'm noticing more and more dreams every night, and more of them as well. This morning I remembered two whole dreams (one of them an FA that I didn't catch somehow) along with a whole bunch of fragments from last night as well. The night before that pretty much the same thing, so it's all going well!

My Reality Checks are also more frequent than before and I'm spurred on by my lucids last night as well. Dreams tend to be in my thoughts most of the day, popping in and out. I'm reality checking maybe 3 or 4 times an hour, sometimes more than that.

Again, all is going well, can't wait to see what the future holds!

      This Week's Assignments
      • Get writing my dream journal again! My recall has dropped dramatically because over the past 2 weeks I haven't really tried to lucid dream a lot.
      • Focus more on lucid dreaming now that I've finished school completely.
      • Keep up with RCing, but do it more often again.
      • Get my dream control up when in a lucid. It is getting better, but I need it to be better than better!

      Past Two Week's Achievements
I haven't achieved much in the past two weeks, since I haven't been focusing a lot on it.
      • Keeping up the habit of RCing regularly throughout the day. It's still going quite well, but I need to do it more often.
      • I had another lucid dream just this morning! This one was a bit longer, and I had some decent control in it. Remembered to stabilize a couple of times as well.

I've done so much better in this journey to lucidity than my previous attempts, and it spurs me on well. I'm doing it for real now. That's my lucid count up to 4!

      Sigh.

I'm annoyed at myself. I've not done much about anything to do with dreaming this week as planned, and I'm frustrated.
This changes from this point onwards. I need to spur myself through this and keep on going! I SHALL!

      I Found A Friend!

One of my friends was going on about how she wanted to be in her books' and films'
fantasy worlds to experience them for herself. That she would love it and that it
would make her so happy, yet the fact that it was impossible just made her upset.
I introduced her to lucid dreaming.

She's the first person I've talked to about it that became as psyched as I did when
I first heard of it. Anyway, we spoke on the phone yesterday for 2 hours and I was
telling her all about it, answering her questions, telling her to start up a DJ and about
the techniques. It rekindled my motivation and I subsequently remembered 3 dreams last night.

So yes, motivation is back, and I will continue and keep on going. I have the motivation
of someone who I can bounce off of if I start to falter and I can do the same for her.

This is a good thing. I'm really excited about it all over again. My assignments/achievements
shall start again tomorrow and I'll keep on practicing everything I have up until now.

Dude that's awesome. Not just that you found someone who got as excited as you about LDing, but how you were able to explain to her that there IS a way to live in your favorite fantasy worlds. Man, I wish I'd had the internet when I was a teenager when all I wanted was Jonny Depp lol. I mean, At that time I'd had lucid dreams on and off since I was little, but I didn't know the name, how to induce them, heck I didn't even know you could control them. So fantasy worlds were basically off-limits except in my attention-deficited daydreams. So that's great that you were able to inspire her like that, and get motivated yourself as well Sometimes that's all it takes to break a dry spell..

Well, color me rainbowed and call me a pony, I had another lucid dream!

I managed to stabilize really well as well, just focusing on my hands. T'was the longest lucid I've had yet.
I also managed to fly, but it was more of a low float along the ground. I couldn't get any higher. Dream Control seems to be the biggest problem I'm having at the moment, simply because of the amount of doubt I have. I don't know what to do about it either. I thought it would be easier than this
Any tips on breaking through the barrier for Dream Control?

Congrats. Reading about others' experiences really provides and insight into LDing, I've found so far.

      What technique?

So, another lucid last night, but my recall is failing me. I gotta work on it more. Can I do anything throughout the day that would help, d'you think?

I've been falling behind on journalling because I wake up and just feel too groggy. I put it down to laziness. I need to start writing my dreams down!

      Congrats rdm

To help remember your dreams, try sifting through your known dream signs. Most probably, some of them were in your dreams (even the lucids), and if you think of your dream signs one by one try to think if they were in your dream, you might realize it did show up, and from there you can slowly remember other details.

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.
