      Skabre's workbook

      Hi everyone!

It's really nice to be here

      Reality Checks:
      - Asking myself; "Is this a dream?"
      - Looking in mirrors
      - Looking at my hands

      Dream Signs:
      - My secondary school
      - Seeing any of my old teachers, or any of the pupils that used to be in my classes
      - Having lessons at my old school
      - Seeing my dog, who passed on

      Short-Term Goals:

      - Remember to do reality checks
      - Successfully Recall at least two dreams in a week (Increase and alter this weekly, if successful?)
      - Remember to write dreams in dream journal
      - Have a Lucid dream

      Long-Term Goals:
      - Have many Lucid dreams
      - Control what happens in all my dreams..! (If only!!)

      Lucid/Dream Recall History:

I do remember having a Lucid dream years ago, but only the one.
(I'd really love to be able to have many more!)
My dream recall has been pretty hazy, I've been able to recall dreams once a month, so I'd love to be able to remember more too, and restart my dream journal!

      Current Technique:

      - Reality checks

I thought I'd keep a checklist, just to see how many dreams I can recall in a week!

      Checklist to Dream Journal:

      10/06/13 - 16/06/13 = 1 Dream recall
      17/06/13 - 23/06/13 = 1 Dream recall
      24/06/13 - 30/06/13 = 4 Dream recall

Welcome, Skabre! Congratulations on the ever-increasing dream recall! I remember that when I first started with lucid dreaming, I almost never recalled dreams except in very rare circumstances. I thought it was neat that it happened but never suspected just how much the skill could be improved!

You're doing just the right thing by setting it as a goal, working to improve it, and most importantly keeping up with your journaling. That's so important. Do you have the luxury of being able to journal your dreams as soon as you wake up? Also, do you have any kind of pre-bed routine that you use to get yourself into the dream recall mindset.

Anyway, looks good -- great start to your workbook and nice job with your recall progress. Looking forward to seeing more from you!

Thank you so much for the welcome, CanisLucidus!
And thanks! Unfortunately this week I haven’t had nearly as many dream recalls as I did last week, but I won’t get discouraged! I feel the same is true for me for how you were at the start of Lucid dreaming, I’ve never really had much luck with remembering dreams! I’d say once a month was how often I could remember a dream, and even then it would be in bits and pieces, but since joining DV and being persistent, it is amazing how much the skill can be improved! To remembering a large segment of the dream!

I’m happy you say I’m on the right tracks! I did think about leaping into the deep end first, but dream recall and journaling really is important! (And my best friend is always saying the basics are important, which they are! Got to master the basics first!)
And yes, I do! I keep my journal by my bed, so the second I wake up and remember anything I can quickly jot it down before I forget! (Like if I wake in the middle of the night from a dream, I quickly write down anything I can remember!) And I do look through my journal before I go to bed, thinking things like: “I’m going to recall,” and hope for the best!
Are there any pre-bed routines that you’ve found work best for dream recall mindset?

Thanks again! Your words of encouragement definitely inspire me to keep going, and to keep trying!

You are so right about the basics! These are the skills that I always try to return to when something breaks down in my own lucid dreaming practice. We all hit bumps in the road, and the vast majority of the time, returning the basic principles and just making sure you've got them nailed is what makes all the difference.

A good generic nighttime routine is the one RareCola put together a while back: http://www.dreamviews.com/attaining-...-lucidity.html

My nighttime routine is lacking at times. I generally think about some recent dreams, try some incubation work, and fall asleep in like 5 seconds. I usually get most of my dreams after my WBTB, and during this time I try to get really focused on the idea that I'm going to be very aware of my dreams, realize that I'm dreaming, and remember what I experience.

If you have the opportunity to experiment with a WBTB, it's great for recall and is a huge factor (for me at least) in achieving lucidity.

You've got a great attitude and approach! Keep up the good work!

Dream journaling is probably the most important aspect of dream recall. Although, it may have more to do with expectations rather than your raw ability to remember dreams. Aside from Rarecola's tutorial which has some great advice, I would just suggest three things.

these are all pre-sleep practices btw...

      1. Re-read previous dreams in your dj and really try to get into the dreams while recalling them.

      2. Try to recall your daytime memories, and the previous days memories as far back as possible.

      3. Imagine yourself waking up and remembering your dreams, then writing them down. Imagine it as if its a memory.

I know we are throwing a lot of info at you so don't feel the need to try everything. Whatever jumps out at you, try it, experiment, see what works, and move on. Recall is usually not 100 percent consistent for most people, and that is ok. It makes the ones you remember all the better.
