      Lesson I

      Lucid dream goals (general):

      Remain lucid (not waking up)
      Fly
      Walk through walls
      Fight
      Dismiss my ex-girlfriend

      Next Lucid dream goal:

Remain Lucid for a certain moment. I usually wake up when I've become full lucid. For the rest, I'm "semi-lucid": I'm aware of the lucid situation, but I can't control the dream so I have to deal with the strangest things my mind randomly generates.

      Sleeping patterns

I don't have some sleeping patterns for the moment, because I don't have college until fall. As a result, my dreams are really random and I often don't recall much of them. That's why I'll try to get a "normal sleeping pattern" again. I'm looking forward to experience some progress.

      Day 1

      Went to bed: 01:20 am
      Awoke first: 5:50
      Awoke second time: 6:55
Duration of sleep ~ 5 hours

Entry in Dream Journal: check (i can't post links for the moment)

      dreamviews.com/blogs/yossarian22/control-masses-fighting-nazis-49180/

      Remarks:

The dreams seemed really incoherent. Actions are minimal.
That's due the fact that I went home from a Birthday party and I was really drunk.

I visited a place, that's only in my dream (a school). I've been at this place a few times in the past, the inside features are the same, but outsides it always looks different. Today it was ware-house-like.

I should darken the room more. When I woke up in the morning the first time, I couldn't go back easily to sleep again.

      Reality checks:

      - Touching the walls with my hands and feel the irregularities of them:

I usually don't feel anything with my hands in dreams.

      - Pluck the nose

      - Checking digital clocks in the car, the alarm clock, the kitchen stove etc.

      Day 4

      Went to bed: 04:00
      Awoke: 12:00

Couldn't sleep at all and remembered two sequences. The dreams seemed really blurry to me.

      Remarks:

It's the 3 day where I used regularly RC's during the day and just before going to bed.
I have a little routine now for different places:

Like in my car I make a clock RC (it's a place that comes often in my dreams)
Everywhere else I pinch my nose, or look at my hands.
at home, I touch the walls and concentrate on the little bumps, I don't feel while dreaming

I hope I get my next lucid soon

For the rest, I read a bit into the topic of lucid dreaming.
I will soon perform lesson 2

Does anybody has suggestions, what I could do more for the moment? (using DILD)

      Start Lesson II

For the moment I'm working on DILD (Last 5 days).

No real progress yet, except that I'm remembering more my dreams and being more conscious over it.

I'm really pissed of. I remembered quiet a lot when I woke up, but forgot as soon I wanted to write them down.

The great detail in my dream was still there, that much I'm sure I could recall. It's hard to distinguish dream from reality.

      A belated welcome, Yossarian22!

All right, DILD. DILD techniques are what I rely on for the majority of my lucids, so I can share with you what has helped me.

First of all, good job bringing your recall up. This is going to help you in lots of ways: recognizing dream signs, getting familiar with your dream life, remembering your lucids more clearly, just having fun, etc. Keep working to bring that sleep schedule into some kind of regularity and I think that'll pay off. When my sleep's off, my recall drops a lot, and this bad side effect can last for several days when it hits.

Second, definitely try to get your sleeping environment darker if you can. If going to bed earlier won't do it (you're very far north) then blackout curtains or a simple sleep mask can do it. If I wake up later in the morning and have the chance to sleep in, I always throw on a sleep mask. Makes the room seem black as a cave. It's awesome.

Third, it doesn't sound like you've tried out any form of WBTB. While it's not required in order to have lucid dreams, it greatly raises awareness. Almost all of my lucids have come via WBTB, and I do it very often these days. If I'm not too tired, it's my natural pattern of sleep now. I resisted this for a long time, but when I finally gave it a serious try, WBTB made a world of difference in my lucid dreaming practice.

Good luck and let us know how you do!

Yes, the sun thing is really annoying. I'll take a try to darken the room more. Normally I'm not really hindered by it, it's just difficult to get on sleep again when I wake up early.

I tried WBTB, but not very consciously. I try when I wake up in the middle of my sleep, but can't go to sleep again, mostly because of the sun

To sum those two points up, I'll darken the room a lot more, so that I can get full potential of it.

      For the sleeping part... hehe...

It's true that I don't have any regular sleep pattern at the moment. This is really simple to explain: The weather is nice and the sun goes down late (around 22:30, when I remember right) The ideal time to go out and have some fun hehe.
But I know it would be better to go to sleep a bit more early and regular. I'm doing my best to keep the fluctuation down.

Any way, thank you for the quick reply

      Day 7

It was a really strange night. I tried some new things (WBTB). I'm going to go in detail about that.

Well that was ... strange (Maybe lucid, I'm really confused) - Dream Journals - Lucid Dreaming - Dream Views --> my DJ entry, where I tried to remeber every bit about it.

      Went to Bed: 23:46

First I darkened the room completly. I did several RC's. I lay down and shut off the light. I kept on thinking about becoming lucid, repeating a mantra I had thought of, it goes: When I dream, I get lucid and stay lucid. I did this over and over again, relaxing a bit. I also said to me that I should wake up after each dream to recaord them and to try WBTB. I finally fell asleep.

      Awoke First: 1:36

I did an RC immediatly after I woke up. I turned the light on to not fall to sleep directly. I wrote down what I dreamed of in taglines. I thought about WBTB I wanted to do. i realized that it was too early to do so ( I've read you should do it after at least 4 hours of sleep and before 6 hours). But I tried, because I felt really optimistic about it that maybe it would do.
I repeated my mantra again and was focusing on the "becoming lucid" part. But I had troubles to imagine a scenery. I didn't want to go back to my first dream, because it was annoying.

      Awoke second: 4:28

I was really tired. I managed to write down the time I woke up. I tried to recall what happened and if my WBTB was successful or not. But I fell to sleep immediately. I was really unfocused and felt really lost. I didn't thought of WBTB (although the timing seemed perfect), I forgot also to switch on the light to not fall asleep directly after.

      Awoke last: 10:45

As I awoke I was feeling even more strange, because of the strange daydream I had shortly after waking up (see DJ for more information). As I really overslept and this was the very end of my sleep, the dreams were really mixed together and had really trouble to identify some sequences.

      Remarks

Maybe I became lucid that night, because as I woke up, I had a "strange feeling" I usually have after a lucid. But certainly, I made today the right step towards it. I simply have to repeat what I did today. I've never been so motivated (this explains my verbal-diarrhea)

      Great night-time routine. Nicely done.

Nothing wrong with experimenting on WBTB time. Just take good notes (as you're doing) and you'll be able to review what works best for you!

And I get you on the annoying dream thing, ha ha... I always just make up whatever I want at that point or just go to a recent awesome dream instead.

This can be hard! When I am too tired I do this sometimes and yeah, it usually doesn't work nearly as well as the longer WBTBs. It's okay. You can learn from this. You're still in the process of forming your habits and getting comfortable with the idea of even doing WBTB. As you do longer WBTBs, you're likely to get correspondingly better and better results.

Good!! Motivation is great, man. Get excited about it. Your intent to become lucid is a huge part of your success. Just know that you are gonna chase this thing down until you get it. If not tonight, then the next night. Or the night after that. Keep coming at this thing, knowing that you're not stopping until you bring it down.

      Day 8

I am a bit late on to write down (it's soon time to sleep again lol). I had a dream that really bothered me, but which I had no real memories about. It was in link with the first dream I had, I am sure, but I could just recall some fragments I don't like to post. I made an entry in the DJ about the first dream I had, the second although ... No, I'm still not in the mood to write it down at. It set the mood for all day and it wasn't quite a good one. I wish to forget about it. I also had a strange experience when I "woke up" (see DJ entry for some context)

      Sleep-pattern:

      Went to Bed: 00:23
      Awoke first: 02:35
      Awoke last: 9:00

      Duration of sleep: ~8 h

DJ Entry: I don't even know how to title this .... - Dream Journals - Lucid Dreaming - Dream Views

      Remarks

After the first really weird dream, I had a kind of transition into waking life. The end of the dream was the beginning of me getting conscious. It's like I have missed lucidity for a millisecond. It's the first time I had an experience like this: Like a movie transition or something. It's like had an hallucination or something, really strange.

anyway, I wrote down the time, got the light on, wrote down some taglines, made some RC's, went back to bed again. I repeated the mantra, tried to relax. But instead of getting relaxed like yesterday, I was really nervous, I couldn't shift my conscious, all my attempt to get a pleasant daydream failed. With a sense of frustration I felt to sleep.

The rest of the night I want to forget. I hope tonight it's going to get alright again ...

Every now and then you'll get one of those nights like that, but don't let it trouble you. It's in the past and with any luck great dreams are in store for you tonight!

Think those happy thoughts, consume movies and books with good dream material, and focus on your goals. Your dreams will get better!

Made a big mistake that day ... I wrote some taglines half asleep and I didn't notice that my pen was empty .... Couldn't recall them the next morning unfortunately, so no DJ entry unfortunately

But I don't let be get down from that. Still maintain RC over the day and the same bedtime routine. I'm sure that this will lead to success. I have to keep it it up a few days so that it can sink in. I'm not used to this kind of behavior, all this conscious stuff is a new experience (although I'm used to lucids once in a while.)

Ps: It is really late around here as I wrote down. I hope that this unusual setting will have no consequences to my work. Still motivated and I'm going for the next lucid. It has always been a really cool experience.

      Remarks

Well, I didn't wrote the dreams down in my DJ, but I got so much to write about it, so that I couldn't focus on what part. But I'm going to shortly explain here:

I dreamed (again) of some party I was at with a lot of friends. there was really absurd stuff I didn't notice. So far nothing new.
But was new is the great detail of my dreams. For the first time in ages, my dreams were crystal clear, just like in waking life. Everything was bright and in detail, I could even smell things around.
Also I had a moment of lucidity (or really close one). In one episode I was really wondering about the inconsistencies. For exemple was I wondering that some friends drove my car (and nobody drives my car except me), playing the music I like and nobody else listens in the radio too, with my playlists I recognized. It was really a little step away from lucidity. But I am so close.

There are still no RC's in my dreams but I sense that it doesn't take any longer.

Also, I maybe found a dream sign (I think). It's that I dream really often about friends gatherings or parties. That's why I do much more often RC's during the gatherings I am. I hope that I'm on the good way

I am really motivated and can't wait to get lucid again (hurrey )

Awesome, I'm glad that you are starting to get this great detail and feeling of vividness! Do you know of anything specific that you changed recently to bring this on or do you feel like your mind has simply grown accustomed to your expectation to remember your dreams? This is a great thing because it helps you remember so many more dreamsigns and get to know your dreamworld better.

Case in point, your new "at parties with friends" dreamsign. This is a perfect one and you're already taking advantage.

It's great to see you so motivated! Keep it up... you've got this!
