      Welcome, arbitespartan!

I have no experience with tulpas but it sounds like your tulpa work and LD work are really going to fit great together. The fact that your tulpas are already a dream sign gives you a good leg up since you'll be able to examine your state of mind (awake vs. dreaming) any time they occur to you.

Your goals look great. Once you hit long-term goal #1 (LD regularly), I strongly believe that goal #2 (finding/summoning tulpa in the LD) will flow from that one naturally. Looking forward to seeing your progress!

Thanks, CanisLucidus! I hope that things work out that well, I'd love to be able to have more dreams with them in it.

A slight update to my reality checks. For those unfamiliar with tulpas, there is something known as "narration", which is basically a fancy term for talking to your tulpas throughout the day. It is supposed to do a number of things: build a connection/relationship between you and your tulpa, get used to speaking to them in your thoughts, and just giving them attention. However, sometimes I struggle to remember to do it. So one thing I've been using to remind me is a rubberband around my wrist.

Any time I look down at the rubberband and realize I haven't been narrating, I snap myself with it. Since joining DV, I've decided to incorporate it into my RCs. Each time I snap it, I'll also just do a general "awareness check" per KingYoshi's tutorial. I simply become more aware of my environment and myself and observe, looking for anything that seems out of place (or would if I were dreaming).

Playing catch up on my workbook entries:

      9/22
      Went to bed: 1:38am
      Woke up: 8:40am

      9/23
      Went to bed: 3:01am
      Woke up: 9:33am

      9/24
      Went to bed: 2:28am
      Woke up: 7:35am

      9/25
      Went to bed: 1:14am
      Woke up: 8:46am

      9/26
      Went to bed: 10:17pm
      Woke up: 8:05am

I realized that I haven't been getting nearly enough sleep, as is evident by the first four times. So I went to bed much earlier than I usually do last night. Still no lucid, but I'm sure it'll help later on. Also, here's something very interesting that happened this morning when I woke up from my last dream (quoted from my dream journal):

"The last thing I remember before waking up was exceptionally creepy. I was dreaming that I was laying down in the same bed that I was actually sleeping in. There was a mirror on the wall next to the bed (it doesn't exist in my actual dorm room) and I could see a reflection of my own silhouette in it, but it was standing up, behind the bed. I asked it what it was doing, and it started dancing. I thought that was pretty cool, and I asked it to moonwalk. It moonwalked out of view, but then came back and stood in front of the mirror. Then it slowly reached down and started choking me, although I could see and feel no hand. I suddenly woke up, and it was so weird seeing the same room go from being covered in shadow to being lit by the morning Sun in less than a second.

I'm starting to wonder if maybe I was actually awake but in some kind of sleep-paralysis or something that caused me to hallucinate, because the angles, my posture, where I was looking; it was all the same."

While it's difficult to say for sure, don't underestimate just how realistic false awakenings can be! There's variance in this, but the most realistic ones appear to be a nearly perfect replica of your immediate environment.

This makes sense because they are built from your memories, so you can see how everything would match your recollection.

The rubber band idea is interesting! I can definitely see how that would train your prospective memory so I think it's smart to extend it to reality and/or "awareness checks" as you're doing. Sounds effective!
