      Newbie needs an overview

      Hello Dreamviews community!

I have just joined the site and wanted to introduce myself as well as ask some basic questions.

I've been reading about lucid dreaming for about a week now and have become extremely interested (and further motivated by just seeing Inception!). My dream recall is pretty decent, most nights since I've started reading up I've been able to remember at least one dream and walk through it again in the shower the next morning.

I was wondering if someone could either lay out for me (or point me to a generic guide) that lays out the general steps to becoming a skilled lucid dreamer. Is it dream recall -> reality checking -> lucid dreaming or something? And I've seen like a million different techniques for lucid dream induction, WILD? MILD? DILD? Where does reality checking fit in? I've read about that but can't seem to do it in my dreams?

That ended up being longer than I expected, TL;DR:

What steps does one take to be a lucid dreamer?

      Thanks in advance!

There are not really direct steps to becoming a skilled lucid dreamer, but I get what you mean.

The first benchmark is experiencing a lucid dream. This is a must before being able to step into more advanced lucid dreaming. Simply having the experience of a lucid dream is huge and makes a big difference.

If you read a guide I wrote, it should answer most of your questions and point you in the right direction for building the proper foundation needed to become a skilled lucid dreamer.

This should be more than enough to get you going. Feel free to post or PM me if you have any questions!

Well, I'm sorry to say that I annot give you what you're askig for. The reason for this is quite simply that it does not exist.

There is no simple formula for lucid dreaming. As you've seen already, there are manydifferent methods for inducig lucid dreams. Your job is to try out different general methods to see which works best for you. Once you've figured that out, the next step is to fine tune and personalize your strategy. Try adding any other things to your routine that help you personally wih lucid dreaming. An example is something I like to do, which is to relax with a cup of green tea just before bed, which placebo or not, helps me personally wih recall and lucidity. Anything like that that youcan add tonyour routine. For now though, pick a technique, try it, and if it's not working for you, move on to another.

"1. Get underpants 2. ??? 3. profit" does not apply here in the least.

      EDIT: motherf-

Be sure to check out the tutorials section, if you haven't already:
      Tutorials
You will find a ton of guides to help you get started.

If you have started working on your recall, you are on the right track. You should start a dream journal and start working on increasing your awareness during the day.
