Question regarding "looking at your hands"-RC

Hey guys, I just wondered why there is a RC which says you should look at your hands or fingers. I mean when you sleep the logical part of your mind isn't fully awake. So even if I look at my fingers and suddenly there are 7 of them I would accept that, because there's nothing in my mind that would prevent me from thinking it's not normal. The above is just a thing I don't understand. I don't get why this should work. Just tonight I had my first lucid dream, where I did this RC. I remember looking at my hands did not trigger lucid state, but doing the "finger through palm"-RC and the "breathe through closed nose"-RC did it. greets, enco
