Is this a problematic dream sign? *Please Help

      Hi Guys,

I am still yet to have my first lucid dream since starting but have been recording my dreams and have noticed a quite obvious dream sign.

I am in a car travelling somewhere almost every night and so I have now decided to perform a reality check in waking, every time I get in and out of a car.

I have read in many posts that it is a bad idea in your dream to travel by car when lucid and so I am worried that trying to become lucid whilst in a car may dampen my chances of achieving lucidity and staying lucid.

Why is it suggested that you don't travel by car to a destination? And should I forget about this dream sign and look for another sign that will help me become lucid and STAY lucid.

      Thanks in advance.

At least you've found your sign!
I suggest iff you do become lucid when in the car to just rub your hands... i dont know this by experience... but there are a lot of discussions and this method seems to solve it so it doesnt make the dream unstable.

      Thanks Lewis

Yea i was pretty pleased to have found what seems to be a dream sign so quickly... and I had read about the rubbing of hands and that seems to be the only one i could use in a car as i'm not sure how i could spin around

I'm just hoping someone reading can clarify why it is your not supposed to drive somewhere in your dream? My guess would be that it would be easy to forget that you are dreaming and lose lucidity. That's why i'm wondering if i should wait for another dream sign as I don't want to be fighting a losing battle trying everytime I try to stay lucid...

Maybe i'm getting to far ahead of myself, I haven't even been lucid since signing up to DV yet haha

      np mate
yeah spinning around would be pretty mental in a car! Talk about travel sick lol..
yeah im sure someone with more experience should read this soon and help you out a bit, i think they recommend walking more than any other travel when starting to learn LD because its just so much for you to take on at once and more chance of it being unstable
i usually find water is a reoccuring theme in my dreams... and in my nightmares... zombies haha

A car is a vehical, It is a metaphor. I can take you somewhere, just like lucid dreams can. Most people do not go anywhere, they just drive around in circles. Like a vehical, it can only take you where you drive it. Pick your destination and go.

But notice one thing, you did not construct this metaphor, nor the message. Choose wisely.

      Thanks Philosopher8659

I forgot to mention (which was probably quite a crucial part) that I am the passenger in all of these dreams. There has been a different driver in every dream and we do in fact reach a destination, often a car park.

I was just worried that I should not attempt to become lucid whilst in a car as this may decrease my chances of being lucid after hearing it is not a good mode of transport whilst lucid dreaming.

You need to become the driver. You need to exercise your will. The parked car is waiting for you. When you see the metaphor for what it is, a message to you, you will see it is not a dream sign, but a sign in a dream, a communication to you.

Hei...congrats mate. You have found a dream sign. Work on it and don't worry about it. After the RC, try to spin. Just imagine to spin by willing to be outside of your car. Once you land in a place outside of your vehicle, try to deepen and stabilize your LD.
      Deepening and Stabilization Technique:
      1. Look into the details of your hands
      2. Rub your hands
      3. Touch and feel the objects in the dream world by rapid movements.
      4. Spin again when you feel the dream is fading out.

I am not too focussed on trying to become lucid yet as I have only just started recording my dreams although once I have a good dream recall I will try this thanks!

The main reason for my post was really just to see if anyone thought that using a dream sign to try and become lucid is a bad idea if a car was involved. This was only because I had heard so many warnings to stay away from cars in lucid dreams to prevent from waking.

      Thanks for the tips man!

So you think its a good idea that I try spinning and moving to a new location and get away from the car? Do you know why travelling in a car is so frowned upon in lucid dreaming? is it just to prevent the dreamer from sinking in to the dream and getting too comfortable that they forget they are dreaming and it returns to a non-lucid dream?

great advice though... i guess once I have done a reality check then I know the car isn't really there so I should still be able to spin

      Pistol,
Since you have the Dream Awareness it is better to spin. While spinning try not to get rid of your awareness, other wise you may be unlucky and fall into a normal dream.
Car/Helicopter/Titanic/Air Force-1 does not count. You dream sign is that counts.
      Good Luck.
To fulfill your Sleep, you have to Dream,
To fulfill your Dreams, you have to Wake up.
