First, you went about it all wrong. You dont want to be thinking "I will WILD", considering "WILD is in a sense, a type of action/result". Rather, think "I will Lucid Dream".
You must also understand that in no way can you be harmed in a dream. It is all in the mind.
You expressed the same feelings that many people who do drugs go through. "Oh man, i cant wait to go take this pill! I wanna know what its like to trip. Comon, comon, comon".. Then if freaks them the hell out.
You NEED to stay calm, and relax. If you have to, just sit on the chair, breath, focus, gather yourself. It helps saying "I am dreaming right now, this is awesome". Try thinking of stuff that makes you feel good or calm (Video games, bowling, friends, sex, people, super powers, etc). It will help get your mind out of the freak out zone.
Also try walking out of your room, maybe downstairs or outside, while saying "this is a dream, I am safe, this is going to be fun".
Dreams are ALL about mind power!!!!!!
You REALLY shouldnt let one bad experience freak you out! Dreams are by far the MOST amazing experience you will EVER have! Way better then ANY drug you will find, and it is 100% safe!
I think that you might have hyped yourself up sooo much, and had so much anticipation of what a LD/OBE should be like, or how things would happen, that when it did happen, it caught you off guard and you started to freak.
Dreams dont always start off as you seeing images, then a movie, then you are at some dreamland... Sometimes it starts off as you waking up in your bedroom.
When you get up thinking you are awake, when you are really dreaming, and you can see/feel your real body, many people reference this to an OBE. -
When you have the mindset of something vague like simply LDing, rather then "LDing at a tropical island", your mind just sent the dream environment to that of your room, since it is most familiar with this area.
Thus, when you are conscious/awake, you are Lucid Dreaming. When you have the feeling of just waking up, but are actually dreaming, this called as "False Awakening Lucid Dream"
Personally, I think the term OBE came about because people "saw" their own body, or felt like they came out of it. - You conscious was never intended to be awake while you dream. So when you are awake, and your subconscious knows this, it takes certain precautions. While it is a dream, it can give you the illusion that you have separated from your body, to signal to you that it is a dream.
-or-
Your subconscious doesn't know what to do with the fact that you are actually awake, and tries to con you to go back to sleep, through the means of making everything look 100% as if you were awake, to deceive you that you are dreaming. When you dont go back to sleep, to has to compensate for all of this occurrence.
-or-
Your subconscious realizes you are awake, and creates the environment/feeling/body as a way to scare/alarm you. When you are scared, your heart rate and breathing change, which will cause you wake up. When you are awake, your mind and body have to go through the sleep cycle again. This time, your Subconscious is expecting you(your conscious mind) to fall asleep this time.
The mind is EXTREMELY complex. Your mind has a mind of its own, which also has a mind of its own. Its an amazing build. There are thousands of theories and ideas on everything mind related. ...and truth of the matter is, no-one knows. You simply have to give it the respect it needs, esp considering, that is who you are.
