      Just a noob with a question

      Hiya, Dreamviews forums. =D I'm Fisher (and new here, obviously) so I figured I might as well introduce myself. I've been interested in lucid dreams and stuff for a while, and my recall's improving - I can usually remember a dream a night, and I've been keeping a journal. Um...I don't have much to say about myself, I'm kind of a boring person. xD So I guess that's it on that front.

      Anyway, I have a question. I tried using my own little variation on the WILD technique last night, and I got some interesting results...I just want to hear people's opinions, 'cause I'm not sure if I'm doing it right. ^^;

      Basically, I laid down in bed and let myself relax all over, tightening up my muscles and then letting them relaxed. I tried not to move my body at all and kept my arms held out slightly at my sides and my limbs straight. With my eyes closed, I tried to forget the feeling of my body and just repeated "I'm going to have a lucid dream and remember it in the morning."

      Within about 10 minutes (which is odd - I'm a terrible sleeper and it usually takes me half an hour at least to fall asleep) my feet started to tingle. I dismissed it as my feet falling asleep and tried to keep focusing on the thought I was repeating, but it spread very quickly and soon I was getting pins-and-needles all over. It felt very strong, but not unpleasant - kind of like being an Alka-Seltzer dissolving in a glass of water. I kind of got excited, opened my eyes by accident and pulled myself out of the sensation because I hear that people get some really creepy hallucinations when they look around themselves. D:

      So...do you think it was my body drifting into sleep paralysis or something? Was I doing it right? Opinions would be great. C:>

      Thanks!

      Hello Fisher, be welcome.

      Yes, it was sleep paralysis. It will be scary if you ''want to'', for most people it's just numbness / vibrations and white noise.
      You was doing it right, now you need to focus on a technique to enter the dream - visualization, etc.

      ...seriously? That was actually sleep paralysis? I thought I was doing something wrong! Wow, hearing that just made my night. :'D Definitely the furthest I've come along to being lucid! Thanks for looking at this and bothering to reply, I'll definitely try again tonight.

      ...well, if I can calm down, that is. Now I'm all excited~

      Edit: Whoops, said my last post didn't go trough. D: Sorr for the double post...

      Yes, that was the begin of the sleep paralysis, the numbness and itches starts, later, you may hear some loud white noise, or vibrations along your body; at this point some people might experience scary hallucinations.

      Good luck with your next try, let us know if there is something we can help.
