      New in town.

Hello there folks! I'm new here to these forums, though i'm not new to lucid dreaming. I've been researching lucid dreaming for weeks now and only a few days ago have I started reality checks. Any help to advance my practice to successfully lucid dream would be greatly appreciated. Here is what I'm doing everyday:

      Reality Checks:
-Since I'm a newbie at this, I do my reality checks most often, at random intervals and several times an hour.
-My reality checks include my questioning "Am I dreaming?", looking at my hand trying to see the indents and prints as well as how it works, and clasping my hands together, looking at the effect they do when I clasp them.

      Dream Signs:
-Though I have not had the chance to control my dreams, I've had dreams feel so real and creative. Although in my dream, I cant seem to remember to do my reality checks, so I never have the option of control.
-My dream signs include: Very attractive women, people I never or hardly talk to, several characters in my dreams (and I seem to switch roles between characters as well), and exotic or imaginary places.

Things I do daily to improve my chances:

      1. Think constantly about lucid dreaming.
      2. Binaural beats. (Im listening to delta and theta, any other types that would help would be appreciated)
      3. Dream journal.
      4. Mantra's
      5.Conscious recitals

*I stick to this list constantly with no luck in my dreaming. Nor have I had the ability to control my dreams. If anyone could help or assist me, much thanks would be given.

Hey akotten! I'm a newbie too, and a huge one at that. You seem to have a good idea of what you're doing. I've completely started on this whole lucid dreaming thing today. Well obviously, I have lucid dreamed before..once, when I was very little. I remember how great it felt, I had banished a nightmare. Anyways, my name is Lucas and I just wanted to introduce myself too.

Nice to meet you Lucas! From reading up on lucid dreaming and such, I found most of the techniques I use to practice. I apply them everyday. My reality checks are becoming more frequent and are happening more recently and without thought, which is good I suppose.

Though recently, I have stopped remembering my dreams. Im not sure if I'm doing something or not. It could be my medication, since it affects brain activity.

      Hey, akotten! to DV!

Sounds like a good routine you've got there!

It might take some time. If you keep consistent though, you should have your first lucid dream soonish! When starting out it's very important to keep consistent with your dream journaling. I suggest writing stuff down every single night if possible.

Have you tried WBTB? I've had a lot of success with this technique.

      Good luck!

Thanks for the response XeL! I actually just remembered one of my dreams last night, so I wrote it down in my journal. This is the first one I've remembered since my prior one, 5 days ago :x. I'm glad I remembered and got back on track again, I'm not sure why I keep forgetting.

Also, I have not tried the WBTB technique, though it does look promising. I start classes Monday and I may need the sleep, but I will put some effort into this technique. Only problem is, I'm not sure when I enter my REM sleep, so it may be hard setting my alarm.
