      A dream

I sought this site out because of a dream I had recently. for many years. almost a dozen I barely remembered any dreams. The last nite I had a dream that was at first exceptionally lucid and symbolic and then culminated in a dream that seemed to be an out of body experience. There was a strange girl who bit my tongue and then I was in my house and got up out of my body and went down stairs to tell my wife that I was out of my body. She was sleeping on the couch and sort of jumped up and was ll excited, she was shaking and hugged me and said I can see right through you. The layout of the house was the same but things were different colors and patterns. Then when I went back upstairs I saw my body on the bed covered over like I was deazd and I had the strangest feeling. It was almost as if I could have turned away and never came back. Then suddenly I awoke and my mood all day has been very under control, very aware of how I am acting might affect others. So I thought I might find a place to share about it and see what people might make of it. See if other people are having similar experiences.
I did not know that "Vanilla Sky" was about lucid dreams, I think I will have to rent it.

      Regards,

      EJ

Actually I am going to rent it tonight. No I meant it was 12 years of not really remembering any dreams. When I was a teenager for a while I had alot of lucid dreams but I was involved in partying real heavy and my life was hell. Then I became a Christian and they told us such things were of the devil, so I guess I sort of blocked it all those years. Now I am back to being well adjusted (or should I say my overall health is above average). Life is good and I just had this dream out of the blue. I feel a little afraid of it, like I might enjoy it too much, but intrigued also.

I gotta see that movie. I want to check out some funny LD's. I hope it is good. I was told Vanilla Sky was a horrible movie, but oh well. Never be afraid of pleasure that hurts no one.

I just watched Vanilla Sky. It was excellent I thought, but more scary. It definitely leaves you at the end to make up your own mind about whats going on. It is sort of like the Matrix I thought.

yeah, I guess if I think about it it is sybolic too. In some sense it really was not lucid in the definition we use here. It was exceptionally vivid and seemed real to me. It was really almost like an epiphany the OBE part. I like this division though of lucid verses vivid. They seem independent to me. An interesting issue on the vividness of a dream. If dreams are in our mind then for a dream to seem real to the finest detail our minds must reconstrcuct the sensory input of being awake and cancel out the propriosense of lying in bed, our body temperature etc. Such a dream would almost require an inversion of the conscious/unconscious, where now the unconcsious uses the sensory neurons to put on a show for our personal pleasure, like an Imax of the brain. I am wondering physically if it is possible for a dream to seem precisely real. Have any of you ever had a such a dream. Also, if in a lucid dream we can do anything, can we maintain this state and can we make time mathc a scale that we please. That is can we make time slow down in a lucid dream?

Yes, you can slow time down in dreams.. Its not an easy task, i've been unable to do it for years now. However, i would like to say, that LDs can be so vivid.. as to where you know its a dream, but its so real, its as real as real life. Interesting part of dreaming is that yes, your mind can completley block out the sensory of your body sleeping.. however you can also experiance that AND whats in the dream at the same time... that usually comes with very high level lucidity where you are aware of your body, but you can feel everything in your dream.

It is entirely possible to do more then one thing at a time in a dream.
