      Hello everyone!

Just thought I'd introduce myself. It's usually the first thing I do when I join a forum community.

      The name's McGinnis.

I'm 24 years old. I'm a graduate student of the American Studies program at my university. My main hobbies are learning to play the guitar, learning foreign languages, video games and cartoons.

Jazz is my favorite kind of music, although I listen to a lot of stuff. My favorite artist is Chris Thile.

I love Disney cartoons (as well as the animated movies). TaleSpin and Darkwing Duck would have to be my favorite series. Other than Disney I love Animaniacs, SWAT Kats and a lot of other stuff.

I love playing video games. Some of my favorites: Lufia II, Zelda (whole series), Okami, Paper Mario, Donkey Kong Country, Guitar Hero and Kingdom Hearts.

Last but not least, I'm very interested in everything dream related.

I've been into lucid dreaming for years now, but I usually practice the art in phases. Usually there's a period every year where I'll feel compelled to give it another go and every year I do a bit better than the year before.

This time, however, I want to take it all the way. From now on, my quest to become a proficient lucid dreamer won't end after a few months.

I've recently started this year's run, so to speak. So right now I'm working on improving my dream recall again, which should take a week or two at the most. I've already had quite a few lucid dreams, some of them great, some of them mediocre, some of them (mostly the early ones) very very short.

I know a fair bit about the subject, though I've never been able to have them at will. Most of them have been spontaneous DILD's and during last year's run I managed to successfully perform the WILD technique a few times (though none of them were planned, I just sort of rolled into them). I counted 5 WILD's in total, of which only one was semi-planned. There have been quite a few more failed attempts before that, though. It's by far the most interesting technique for me, because I love the sensations during the transitional stage.

In any case, I'm rambling on. I tend to do that. It's good to be here and I hope to both learn from the more experienced lucid dreamers as well as be of assistance to those just starting out.

      Greetings!

Have you ever had a dream where the imagery looked cartoonish?
I am sure about illusion. I am not so sure about reality.

Somewhat. I've had dreams where I was actively in World of Warcraft (back when I still played it), either as one of my characters or simply controlling my characters but with the occasional first person view.

And I once had a (failed) WILD transition where I was floating over an ocean that looked much like the one in Zelda: The Wind Waker.

All in all, I'm actually quite surprised that I haven't had more cartoon-ish dreams.
