      Hello All, SP Question.

Hi guys, this is my first post here on DV though I have been browsing the forums for some time now. I have finally gotten enough interest in LD'ing and now I have a question on SP. I have gone through several threads on SP'ing and I have noticed a common way to know you are under SP is to see shadows or hallucinations. The problem, my room is literally pitch black at night and the most of the time I wear a sleep mask to prevent light from my window in the morning. Are there any other significantly noticeable symptoms that would aid me in my attempts?

Well your body might feel like someone put a led blanket on you. But you will still se the hallucinations in your eyelids. That where they are because your eyes are closed. Also you might have auditory hallucinations.

So my eyelids will be closed and I will see these hallucinations, so the mask and amount of lighting do not effect my SP?

You should see the hallucinations even with your eyes closed. The images come from your mind. They start as dim swirls of monochromatic light, like when you close and press against your eyes. Eventually, they start to look like recognizable shapes.
I am sure about illusion. I am not so sure about reality.

Awesome, thanks for the help guys. I read a guide in one of the sections, to induce this I just need to relax, stay in one position without moving, and keep a clear mind, correct?

Yea but make sure you are falling asleep though. Read up on some of the tutorials and they'll give you a start but its all up to what works for you though. Try and find billybobs tutorial on how to wild that one should help. I'm not expert though haha. Only been able to get to sleep paralysis one but I'm just passing off info that people have given me.

A couple of times I've tried WILDing and the ones I consider my best attempts thus far, it suddenly gotquite difficult to breathe. I guess that's the 'Sitting on chest' sensation I've heard about...

It wasn't so much scary as it was very distracting, where I felt like I needed to, at the least, concentrate on breathing to the point it screws up the WILD attempt... I suspect it's all in my head and this is normal but... Insight on the matter or advice on it would be preferable.

Ok, thanks. One last question, when attempting to induce SP, am I supposed to lay in bed with my eyes closed or open?

Your suppose to have you eyes closed because your trying to fall asleep because if you don't you won't get sp. Also look up why you fail at wild

That seems difficult, it would seem like you would fall asleep rather easily.

Haha yea I know, but that's why you use an anchor to keep you mind awake enought. Something like counting you breaths or a pain in your body is anchor. What it does is keep your brain conscious enogh while falling asleep. The thing is, you want these anchors on the back of your mind so that you still can fall asleep. Also its much easier to wild and get sp after wbtb so that your in rem. So like 6 hours after you fall asleep. So remeber you have to fall asleep or else your body won't go into sp.

Thanks for all the help, I really appreciate it. I'll try a counting method.

Yea no problem. Just make sure you don't focus much on the counting or else you won't fall asleep. You want it to be on the back of you mind. Haha I know it sounds kind of hard or complicated. You want just enogh conciousness to fall asleep. If the counting doesn't work for you, than that's ok because it doesn't work for everyone. There are other anchors that work for certain people.
