      Thumbs up Introduction

      Hello all!

I am the new guy here. I've had a few lucid dreams in the distant past, but just recently got a renewed interest in the phenomenon after hearing someone talk about LaBerge's experiments at Stanford. I have "A Course in Lucid Dreaming" but I'm waiting to move forward until I can record 12 dreams in my dream journal (his recommendation). I've had at least a couple moments of lucidity or awareness that I was dreaming already and my dream recall seems to be getting better and better. Last night I completed the November basic Task of the Month on my first try. Crazy!

My method right now is a simple two parter:

Before sleep, repeat, "I will remember to recognize that I am dreaming AND I will remember the details of my dreams." If my mind wanders, I try not to have an emotional reaction to it & as gently as I can move it back to stillness & repeat my mantra.

      Keep a dream journal.

I've been very bad about reality checking, but I seem to be making progress regardless.

Anyway, it feels good to be in the company of the like-minded. I'm looking forward to seeing how far I can take this.

You're doing really well on your practice so far - it's a great start Good idea to keep calm if your mind wanders. When I first started out, I used to get this knee-jerk reaction, and become really upset at myself if I caught my mind wandering. Now, I don't really care, because I realize it's no big deal

You should post your dream in the thread for the task of month here: http://www.dreamviews.com/f43/task-m...2010-a-105694/

And then, in your control panel, there's a menu on the left hand side... scroll down until you see "Permission Groups" (in the "My Account" section). Click it. Then you'll see a list of potential user groups and joining conditions. For whichever task you completed, select the "Join group" button and submit your reason (usually I write something like "completed task, posted in the thread") then submit it

You'll get your name changed to orange for the rest of the month, and a pair of wings under your name!

Try writing RC somewhere on your hand with a magic marker, that will help remind yoe to reality check

congrats on your lucid. Stay with it and you can take it very far, as far as you want. You will be surprised to hear of the things that you can do while lucid, try looking up shared lucid dreaming. Just saying how far it can get.

      good luck

One of my favourite things to do to rebuild my RC's is to remind myself to RC everytime I walk through a door. It's something that occurs a lot in dreams and IRL, so it plays upon the idea used in DILDs... day residue. Do it enough, or remember it enough while awake, and it bleeds through into dreams.

And here's the pro-tip: I suck at remember to RC when I walk through a door. But, the bonus is, I generally remember a few minutes later, "Oh crap, I forgot that. Alright let's do one now, then." And more and more, I will just be thinking about awareness and reality checking without needing the door (or anything) as a prompt. I'm just aware (which is a good state of mind to have... this also bleeds through into dreams).
