Hello there. My name is Pascal. I'm a gamer, a dreamer, a self-proclaimed psychologist charlatan(but not really) and i wanna be professorial programmer.
Look like i went on and on with this post, so if long monologue is boring to you, skip to the end!

I just woke at 4 something, almost a hour ago. I spent the last 30 or so minutes reading some stuff on this forum. I stumbled here by accident, i was searching on the net information about sleep, fell on a article about Lucid dream, then realized the term was new for me but the experience -not. So i typed Lucid Dream Forum and here i am.
I'm 23, i've been having more or less lucid dream regularly since i was about 10 or so years old. It started with me having an element that keep "popping" into my dreams; i would end up not having any clothes exempt for boxers. I'm lucky my subconscious had at least the decency of providing such basic censoring!
It lasted for i cannot remember how long, but it did happen for very long, maybe two years, since i was 8 year old when i moved, changed school and things gotten unpleasant there. Anyways, at one point, during sleep, the situation was just making me angry and angrier(as it happened on and on).
At one point, when i would get very angry as the situation happened over and over, it would simply wake me up. At first it was good, i had a "way out". Eventualy i realised that it wasnt the part where i got angry that woke me up(althought it did help and some part of that anger was actualy real and present when i woke up), it was because i chose to wake up! Then as it kept happening, i would try to take control instead of getting angry and wakeing. At first it did not work but eventualy i just "went lucid" yelled that i had enough and that it wouldnt happen again, and it dint.
Now i am 23. I am from Quebec in Canada. My first language is french. My point of interests in life are psychology and informatic. I've seen that alot of peoples on this forum end up in inconfortable situation while dreaming or lucid dreaming, thus: Before i go and talk about my "problem" i'd like to share something, a tip;
If you are reading this and is either scared of lucid dreams or simply have nightmares or often end-up in unpleasant sitations while dreaming, lucid or not, the following is for you:
When you dream, a part that is your subconscious when you are awake take over. That part govern so many things in your everyday life; how you feel about something, emotions, phobias etc... Learning to communicate with it is a great asset in life... but i'll remain on the topic of dreams since otherwise this would end up being a essay or something ...
If you are afraid that something will happen while you dream, odds are it will happen. By thinking of something you are afraid of, you fuel your subconsciousness what it need to place you in your own personal horror movie!
So even if many here know about it, here the actual tip...
Self-Hypnosis (you can google it if you dont know about it!); when you are in a very calm state, this can be either while you meditate, (deeply) if you can do it or just after you wake up "normaly" a.k.a. not suddently; You are in a state where your subconscious is "semi-conscious". You are "vulnerable" to suggestions and this is when you want to "program" your subsconcious to "change" what it does at a precise point.
An example would be: Next time i become lucid in a dream and/or and i fear i might end up in face of XYZ unconfortable situation(you must vizualise doing so, so your subconsciousness know what the heck you're talking about!) instead of "insert description of bad situation here" i will "insert something here that put you in a situation where you are SAFE". It could be that you rise in the air SAFE and away from harm (or whatever) and can look down below and decide where to go next.
When you "program" yourself. Its pretty much like computer programming! You need a trigger, an event, something that happen. And then you need a command, what you do about it instead of letting whatever is happening, happen.

Anyways. My situation is i've been "turning lucid" for a long long time, but when i do, i wake up after a few seconds. I've tried all the things i wanted and then all i could think of during lucid (anything you can do in a matter of seconds anyways!) To stay lucid. I tried alot of things, like relaxing or doing nothing, doing something mundane, going to take a swim, having a conversation with someone, taking the buss, driving a car, RACING a car, playing whatever, flying(this one took me a few try!), diving into space or into deep water, fighting, flirting, kissing and more, back and forth, on and on till i gave up trying to stay lucid.
I thought it was simply not possible. But now i found this forum of people sharing about it!
When i try to relax, i kind of just let go of my lucidity, when i try to just continue dreaming my dream with a bit of control, i either wake up after a bit longer or go back to non-lucid (tho i always clearly remember that dream from start to end), when i try to not wake up or hold unto lucidity, i wake up pretty fast too.
My best result was semi-lucidity i guess. I would just "play" my dream and more or less program myself to become lucid if i wanted to alter something, then go back to regular dreaming, back and forth, without waking up immediately.
But like i said i had given up, now when i become lucid i just do whatever, wake up, think what i want/desire and go back to regular dreaming. I guess here you call it passive control?
So there, i've layed out some (only a little!) of myself here.
Discuss?
I dont mind chitchatting in a more direct fashion about anything. Or if you just need someone to talk too, maybe i can do that too.
