      Question Fear of the subconscious

I have been around here for a month or so, I had one breif DILD and I havent had a lucid dream for a while. I know the reason is because I am somewhat afraid to attempt a WILD or things like that because my previous experiences of sleep paralysis, hallucinations and nightmares are quite intense. I used to have recuring nighmares about being beaten up by a huge pink monster in a hotel made of severed body parts and I would wake up strait into sleep paralysis which was very scary indeed. Ive had very very scary sleep paralysis so clear and vivid I can recall it like it was yesterday even though it was 7 years ago. I dont really experience things like that as much but every now and then I do, and my subconcious can make anything scary. Seriously. The most ridiculous things can be extremely scary in my dreams. Even though nothing bad has happened for a while I am frightened of what I might find in my mind. I know I can do WILDs if I try but I fear my subconscious. Am I overreacting about what pre-WILD hallucinations are like?

I've had 2 or 3 experiences with intense scary SP's a while ago but it hasnt stopped me. Now that I know its just hallucinations I know it cant harm me in any way.

You're not alone. The only difference was that I was told the HH were demons.

Obviously I now know that wasn't the case. Now they've stopped.

You get over it dude. I once did the finger tug RC in a dream. My joints came apart and it caused an immense amount of pain. But guess what, I'm all good. I realise now it was a dream and that there's nothing about that experience that could have hurt me. The same goes for sleep paralysis.

Suck it up and have a go or remain in the dark and wonder about what you may have achieved.

so wot happens after the sleep paralysis??

      Hi there,

Just wondering if u cud help me.. Iv been experiencing sleep paralysis for a while now.. it feels like as if something is tryin to hold u down and take control of u.. most of the time i am able to snap out of it however the most intense experience i had was when i wasnt able to initially... i was sleepin on the sofa and got sleep paralysis and was fully under the control.. and i started hearing wot sounded like a woman screaming and shouting at me.. my eyes were open and i could sense her near me but i cud not see her.. she was wearing like shakles or something and i could hear the chanking noise of them as she was gettin closer n closer around me.. i was tryin to snap out of it, and as the normal way would be i tried to get up.. i did get up but only to like float forward n when i turned around i cud see my body lyin on the sofa that i was sleepin on.. i looked at myself that was floatin but there was nothing of me ie no body.. then all of a sudden i was back in my body lyin on the sofa.. think this mite have something to do with the shock of it all.. dont know.. this happened bout two maybe three times then eventually i stopped tryin to get up and it ie energy or wotever jus eventually let go of me and i got up... Can u relate to this? can u explain this? who/wot was the woman??? i was not asleep, it was not a dream, i was fully aware that i was awake tho.. i still get sleep paralysis still, however am scared when i get it due to that experience.. any advice?? thankyou.

This is a classic example of sleep paralysis. A whole lot of people experience something pressing down on them, abnormal noises and such. People think that sleep paralysis happens when your body is awake while your mind is still asleep, when you get your timings wrong. It has actually been happening more to me just lately but not scary just...weird.
This woman was probably just your imagination, but alot of people would argue it was a demon or some other sort of spirit (dont mean to scare you ). To deal with it some people use prayers, gemstones etc. Most people just get used to it and learn to negotiate it, some people even find it enjoyable becasue they are so relaxed and find it easy to go strait into a lucid dream from here.
So, my advise is either learn to deal with it, tell yourself you cant get hurt and its just your mind; or if you belive in it use some sort of crystal or gemstone(there is some scientific evidance). Most importantly, dont worry about it becasue if you do it will be more likely to happen and be scary. good luck!

thanks for the advice fatcatdog.. i jus woke up this morning after a dream.. it wasnt scary or anything.. iv been reading up on meditation, and i jus felt like doin sum as i woke up.. i closed my eyes and tried to feel the feeling of motionless and clearing my thoughts and straight away i got sleep paralysis even tho i was awake and not sleeping?? it freaked me out a bit..thats why i googled it and came across this site.. but i realised i can induce it.. or am i jus attracting something that i shouldnt?? and wot do i do next if i do let it control me?? fight it or jus lie there?? wot shud i expect to happen next?? wot do u experience?? also when i snapped out of it today i started seeing like little sparks of light infront of my eyes all over the room in the dark?? sometimes i get the same in the daytime but not as many, and they usually jus trickle down infront of me and fade away but today they were everwhere, like something out the matrix?? lol any thoughts, or advice?? btw thanks for the reply, its good to know that ur not alone and losing the plot but there are other people out there having the same experiences and maybe we can make sense of it all..

take a look at this arran : How to Cope With Sleep Paralysis | eHow.com
My experiences of sleep paralysis are usually the same. I wake up after a bad nightmare, see myself screaming and my eyes huge and black. There's an inhuman scream I am making like nothing Ive ever heard before. Then I go into my own body, I cant move myself but I am invoulantairily shaking with fear and pain. Then lightning shatters my window and repeatedly strikes at my wall, engraving a message in an odd language. This happens after alot or most of my nightmares. If im not having a post-nightmare sleep paralysis its usually just an odd feeling in my face and inability to move.
The little sparks I think are quite common. They seem to happen when you stand up too fast Ive had it hapen to me a few times and they cover my vision completely, like a temporary blindness. I reccomend that when you exit the sleep paralysis or meditation take time to get up if you dont want those sparks.
