Thread: Newbie here after a crazy night!

Hi all, as i'm sure is the case with many, last night i had a very interesting dream cycle of events. It started with a dream where i was falling - typical, however as i was falling i forced myself to realize that it had to be a dream, then all hell broke loose. I stopped falling and was able to page through different scenarios - dream options, like in an I-phone. I picked a screen of my room and my wife in bed and 'clicked' on it and somehow - boom - there i was. In the bedroom with my wife, looking around and saying 'i'm dreaming - this is awesome' anyhow, had a short convo with her and then some other people started appearing and so on. Shortly there after, i started to wake up, and tried to "hold on" to the dream. This resulted in the second most weird thing i've ever had happen, i encountered sleep paralysis. I was lying there in bed with my eyes open (i think) and the sounds of the heat kicking on and heavy rain started filling my head, but i couldn't move! I was freaked out at first but after a couple seconds, i was awake. Then - after being so amazed at this, i tried falling back asleep and (from what i've read) almost had a WILD. I was just on the virge of transitioning back to sleep and a lot of strange images were flashing in front of my eye and as i tried to jump into the dream world, i lost it. After that i fell asleep and woke up today and have been on here reading for the past few hours.

This is only the second lucid dream i've ever fully remembered in my life. For some reason i had one once when i was around 12, i still remember realizing i was dreaming and so began smashing a cop car's lights out - how mature, right?

Anyhow, just wanted to say hello and props to a great site!

Congrats on the LD and almost getting a WILD! Welcome to DV! I suggest you start off by posting in your Dream journal, you seem to know some info already so I'm assuming you looked into the tutorials a bit right? I suggest you look into reality checks. also quick question..The thing you used to look at different scenarios for was it a device or book, because looking at technology or text in books are reality checks, just curious if it was a device did it operate as you fully believed it would or did it have some issue (Ex: blurry screen, failure to operate, etc)? Keep up the good work!

Yep, been on here reading all afternoon. I had a friend in college who did this as well and never really gave it any thought when he'd do a RC and I was always confused as to what the heck he was talking about. Anyhow, the deal that i used to 'page through' dream scenarios was indeed blurry. I remember it being like a huge flat screen tv and it started out as just a bunch of blurry images flying by, but then i started to grab each one and look at it with my finger and swing to the next one, the Iphone similarity. But all the images were fairly difficult to see and when i picked the one i mentioned about, i had to sit there for a minute because i didn't know how to "get into it". I ended up closing my eyes and 'clicking' on it and eventually just appeared there. I think had i just done the whole spinning thing it would have been much simpler.

or you could use a door, you could almost use anything, give spinning a shot, but if you have troubles with that try using a door and conving yourself that behind the door it will look or appear a certain way you desire it to be. that's also interesting that the device was blurry so now you know from firsthand experience devices encounter problems in the dreamworlds.

ahhh, good call, never thought about a door. that'd be easy if i put the iPhone deal ON the door. If i ever get to do it that way again that is. We'll see tonight!
