Outside of dream influences

Hello, everyone. I'm new to the board, but have had a few lucid dreams over the years. Looking around today (and probably an influence of Inception), I have never really experimented with outside entities (such as music) to influence a dream. I've had many dreams where a noise whilst I'm asleep has become apart of the dream (as it does) but I've never really tried anything to induce a lucid dream. Tonight, I'm goin to try and set some music off on my phone quietly whilst asleep to see if there is any influence in my dream. What experiences have people had of disturbances entering a dream and do people use anything in particular to induce a lucid? I've noted that there's an iphone app currently available that people seem to be experimenting with. Cheers
