First I should probably introduce myself. I'm Miles Rout, and I'm a teenager living in New Zealand. I've always been interested in finding out how absolutely anything works, so when I was browsing the web and came across lucid dreaming, I was very interested in giving it a go.

Unfortunately, I have never really had very good dream recall, and I never remember to write down my dreams, to improve them, haha, so I just assumed it was a lost cause on me. I never remembered to make reality checks all the time, either.

So, after not doing an reality checks, not even thinking about lucid dreams, I go to sleep, and there I had a dream that was sort of a cross between my life and Outrageous Fortune (unsurprisingly, as I've watched the first three and a half seasons in the last couple of weeks). We went to check out a new house, and I went to check out the bathroom with my sister, and I was looking in the mirror, and either she phased through the wall, or the bathroom suddenly split into two rooms.

Either way, I suddenly realised I was dreaming, and I was instantly transported to the front porch of my old house. I tried to fly (something I had heard was very difficult in dreams - the first time, anyway), and it worked the first time! I sort of tried to stand as tall as I possibly could, at the same time as thinking of flying. Jumping didn't work, which i also tried afterwards. I flew around and spent the rest of the dream 100% lucid, basically just flying. I didn't continue to dream for long after getting lucid, which was unfortunate, but I woke up and immediately logged it on my computer.

The strange thing about the dream was that although I knew I was dreaming, I still talked to others in the dream as if they were real, and I "taught" my brother to fly.

So it was if I "knew" I was in a dream, but some part of me still had an attachment to the people in the dream as if I they were real. I knew they weren't, but I still acted as if they were.

So basically, I managed to have a lucid dream without some sort of technique. I dunno if that's unusual, but to me it was bloody awesome.
