      Lucid Dreams

First I should probably introduce myself. I'm Miles Rout, and I'm a teenager living in New Zealand. I've always been interested in finding out how absolutely anything works, so when I was browsing the web and came across lucid dreaming, I was very interested in giving it a go.

Unfortunately, I have never really had very good dream recall, and I never remember to write down my dreams, to improve them, haha, so I just assumed it was a lost cause on me. I never remembered to make reality checks all the time, either.

So, after not doing an reality checks, not even thinking about lucid dreams, I go to sleep, and there I had a dream that was sort of a cross between my life and Outrageous Fortune (unsurprisingly, as I've watched the first three and a half seasons in the last couple of weeks). We went to check out a new house, and I went to check out the bathroom with my sister, and I was looking in the mirror, and either she phased through the wall, or the bathroom suddenly split into two rooms.

Either way, I suddenly realised I was dreaming, and I was instantly transported to the front porch of my old house. I tried to fly (something I had heard was very difficult in dreams - the first time, anyway), and it worked the first time! I sort of tried to stand as tall as I possibly could, at the same time as thinking of flying. Jumping didn't work, which i also tried afterwards. I flew around and spent the rest of the dream 100% lucid, basically just flying. I didn't continue to dream for long after getting lucid, which was unfortunate, but I woke up and immediately logged it on my computer.

The strange thing about the dream was that although I knew I was dreaming, I still talked to others in the dream as if they were real, and I "taught" my brother to fly.

So it was if I "knew" I was in a dream, but some part of me still had an attachment to the people in the dream as if I they were real. I knew they weren't, but I still acted as if they were.

So basically, I managed to have a lucid dream without some sort of technique. I dunno if that's unusual, but to me it was bloody awesome.

I just wanted to add that I realised towards the end of the dream that it was getting dark, and that meant I would wake up soon. When it got to as dark as it gets at night, I woke up suddenly (as in I saw and felt my eyes open). This was weird for me, as usually I'm never actually conscious of waking up, except when woken up by something.

That's some great stuff you had happen to you! I can understand how you feel about having poor dream recall. Mine is definitely not great.
Congrats on remembering that experience. Hopefully you have more coming your way
