      Semi new to Lucid Dreaming

      Hi all! Recently taken a specific interest in Lucid Dreaming. I've always found dreaming fascinating, but have never really considered actively delving into it. As a kid I remember vividly Lucid Dreaming twice, which i still remember some 10 years later. More recently, mainly after watching Inception, I acquired a more developed interest in actually inducing a Lucid state. The possibilities seem incredibly exciting! So I did a bit of googling and learned about MILD and WILD.

      One technique did pique my interest, eyelid patterns. A sort of WILD branch I think, where you focus on the patterns that you see in front of your eyes in the dark. I remember I used to do this a lot when I was younger as I always wanted to know what the patterns were. It occurs to be now that this may have been what caused my Lucid Dreams when I was young. Anyways, started writing a dream diary last week, and so far am managing to write one dream every two or so days.

      Hopefully I'll start posting here regularly, I am studying Psychology now at school, and am very much considering doing studying psychology at University in just over a year, and dreaming is one of my largest interests! So hope to see you guys around!

      One quick question I do have however, most of the dreams that I do remember, it seems that I am more watching myself interact with the dream in third person. I don't recall actually witnessing it as I would consciously, almost as though I am watching a film of myself. In this manner I am finding it difficult to work out how to perform reality checks, as it doesn't feel as though i'd be able to do that! Anyway, hopefully haven't bored you all with my ramblings!

      Hi and welcome to DV! Yeah that's basicly how a WILD goes. You wait for your body to fall asleep, while you focus on something to not lose consciousness. When you start seeing whole images, try to focus on them and let them engulf you. It's basicly a waiting game until the time comes, you'll start to notice your other senses activating other than sight.

      There's been a study done, that shows that alot of people who play alot of games dream in third person. What you can do if you don't think RC's during the day will work, is to do the MILD technique. Intentions and mantra's are enough for you to become lucid. When doing a RC in a dream, you're almost always already lucid. They rarely happen spontaneously. U get lucid spontaneously and then perform a RC.

      Start writing down your dreams as recall is very important, and set up a goal or two. That's the first steps!

      Thanks for the warm welcome! That's interesting about the study into gamers and dreaming, i do indeed play a lot of games. The only breakthrough with regards to Lucid Dreaming I've had recently occured a few days ago, I recall dreaming then "realising" I was dreaming, though i'm not entirely sure I did. When I think back to my thought processes during the dream, they did not really match what I would've done. After this I went into a false awakening, and lost my Lucidity. Still, definitely gonna keep working at it!

      Yeah, that's still progress! Anything lucid dreaming related is progress imo. I also had alot of LD's as a child, but was losing my ability to LD up until a year ago when I picked it up as a hobby. I've had quite a few now since I started trying, so you'll get on track in no time
