      Hello All

And so it came to pass that I entered the Newbie Zone and posted a thread.

I have pretty good recall (at least 1 a night usually) and I've attained Lucidity a few times (though usually not through purposeful RCs) but I'm terrible at keeping a Dream Journal.

I currently keep a notebook next to my bed, with a pen, and I have a red-light headlamp so as not to wake my fiance. But whenever I wake up in the middle of the night I forget to write my dreams down...

So, I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on how to make it easier? Or maybe just how to remind myself to do it?

      Hi, Oerath!
I have the same problem - just can't remember that! It was fine before, but now my recall is getting really worse because of that
I'm thinking about starting DJ here on DV, maybe it will be some sort of new intention, new reason to remember dreams more and not to forget to write them down at all...

I had considered that. I have some stuff in my dream journal, but it's very sporadic... I was planning on copying them onto here anyway, though I'll have to get my scanner working to include the drawings with some of them. Maybe having it online will act as a sort of primer for my brain though, and help me remember. I was also considering including my DJ specifically in my mnemonics when I attempt MILD.

      Thanks for the welcome BTW!

You just need a little bit to build on. You might have a hard time remembering entire dreams when you wake up at first. When you wake up in the middle of the night, just write down anything whatsoever you remember seeing/feeling/touching/smelling/etc. Try not to move when you wake up for the first few mins. Sometimes you'll get bits and pieces of you last dream that will come a few minutes later. Get up and go to the bathroom/grab a quick drink and try thinking about what you were last dreaming about. For some people, albeit less, it will help if you get up for a minute and try hard to remember. Also, if it's on your mind, some people will remember dreams over the course of the day if you try to.

A last alternative would be to take a few minor supplements to help a little bit. Most B vitamins will aid you. (B5, B6, B12)

Thanks. I've started taking B vitamins, and I'm looking into other supplements as well (though mostly for experimental purposes, I don't want to rely on them too much). Also getting up for some water might help me WBTB instead of just passing back out... Much appreciated!

You could go the organic route and eat things like bananas or peanut butter before bed. If you aren't really into supplements/food aids you should only have to use them very briefly just to get something to start out with. With Lucid Dreaming, everything gets progressively easier once you've made the first step. (recall, attaining lucidity, dream control)

When I don't move in order to remember the dream I just had, I always have this feeling - the dream is some sort of an object and I'm chasing it - I try to grab its tale, but it's like dream chase - I can never catch it X)
The greatest thing is when during the day something remind you of something in the dream. In the most of the times for me it's people mentioning something random and I can instantly recall the whole dream at once. The problem is - how to get people say the right things
