Thread: can anyone help me intreprit a dream?

Hi I'm new, but I just wanted to see if anyone could tell me what the heck this dream I had could possibly mean. It's sort of a recurring dream with a strange new twist at the end.
In the recurring part of my dream; I'm in a pet store, and it's kinda dark. There's puppies and kitties, even rabbits and birds all in small cages from floor to celing. Usually they are lining the small rooms walls and there is also kind of a center aisle or something too with the cages. I usually look at all the cages and pick out a puppy. It's a different breed dream to dream. Anyway, most of the time the puppy I pick will turn into a differnent animal by the end of the dream OR it will become a stuffed animal by the end of the dream.
In the new dream; I don't pick anything, and instead my mom comes into the dream holding two snakes. One of the snakes is very skinny and long and it's red and black in color. The other snake is thicker and long also but it's a bright green. She walks up to me and drapes them both (they are alive) over my shoulders, and then steps back out of the dream. The snakes then both look right at me...and then that's all. Neither of them try to bite me or get away.

And how do you feel about your dream? Any emotion comes to you?

Well, when I'm in the pet store filled with options I feel excited but overwhelmed. Like I don't know what to choose, but I want to pick something. I remember in one of them I picked a boston terrier puppy, and I was very excited to go show the puppy off to friends and family. When it turns into another animal I feel dissapointed, like...this isn't what I thought it was. When I saw my mom come into the dream with the snakes, I was confused. Why was she holding them? When she put them around my shoulders I thought...ok so this is what she wants me to pick. Then when they looked at me I was afraid, like I wasn't sure if they would bite me or not. When they didn't bite me I felt calm, and felt like...ok this could work out.

I've always believed the best interpreter for a dream is the dreamer themselves. Dreams reflect the emotions, experiences, and creativity of the dreamer who had them. It is pretty much impossible for any of us to know your experiences or emotions, so it makes it difficult for an outsider to tell you a definitive meaning to your dream. To me, it sounds like you want a new pet, or some sort of companionship. Maybe you long for a good friendship/relationship whether it be a pet or another human being. The snakes may mean your mother is trying to push you to becoming friendly with someone you don't approve of...or maybe she wants you to have a threesome . In all seriousness though, you should think about your recent feelings and experiences and try to relate them to the dream. Ask yourself, what feelings/people/things do you associate with snakes...puppies...your mother...ect. In the end, it may not mean anything at all. It may just be a dream you remember very clearly and have thought about numerous times. This alone can cause a dream to become recurring. You should run this dream through your mind everyday and imagine yourself doing a reality check during the dream. Then you can use the dream to achieve lucidity the next time you have it. Recurring dreams are great for becoming lucid.

Thanks for the insight "King Yoshi". Although I highly doubt my mom would want to have a threesome! LOL! I don't think it's related to needing companionship. I mean I have pets, three of them. I do NOT want another pet...for a while. However my fiancee and I are currently trying to get pregnant....so I wonder if this dream could have anything to do with that? I have a hard time thinking that this dream would have anything to do with that. Hmmmm.....Maybe not so much that my mom wants to push me to get along with "someone" I wouldn't approve of, but maybe there would be a situation or "something" I wouldn't approve of that she would push me into. Interesting to think of it that way. In life I'm not afraid of snakes, I actually like them. I would keep one as a pet if I didn't have to eventually feed it live mice and stuff when it gets bigger. LOL!The fact that for a moment in the dream, when they looked at me I thought they might bite me...when they didn't I felt releived and I liked them, however feeling it was very strange that the snakes would just stare at me. LOL! Anyway, I'm usually pretty good at determining what my own dreams mean...this one just has me a little stuck.

Ah, damn I thought had hit the nail on the head with the threesome ! I suppose your subconscious could be substituting the puppies for a baby. Like the excited to show it off to friends and family could definitely relate. Are you possibly hoping for a specific gender? Maybe the changing puppy would represent the opposite gender of your desire. Or maybe you are excited about the baby, but feel a bit worried about the responsibilities. I don't know how the snakes would play into that scenario though . Maybe they would represent twins...which would make even the most prepared person a little nervous at first. Like you were nervous with the snakes at first. Then when you think about...you realize that twins wouldn't be that bad. Just throwing some ideas out there.

Huh, well I guess those could all be possibilities! LOL. Very interesting about the whole twins thing too, cuz I also had a recent dream about me and what I knew were my future son's in a dream. They were together in the dream, they were both young no more than 6 or 7, but the one was definitely taller than the other. I've never had offspring premonitions (until this dream), that have been more than one child at a time, so I wondered at the possibility of twins when I do finally get pregnant. LOL! This dream was short but very sweet. I had another very short dream about actually being pregnant. That was a bit before all of these dreams. (That one was one of those dreams where I had no idea I was dreaming.) I remember feeling so peaceful, and so happy, that when I woke up and realized it was just a dream I was instantly saddened. My dreams have been pretty intense lately I've noticed. Well the one's I can remember anyway.
