      first dream-kinda lucid

      Hi!
I am new to this forum although I've been studying my dreams since I was 13 (16 now). My "study" was mostly about their meanings and reccuring patterns, till about a week ago when i found out about LDs.

Following common advice I started keeping a dream journal (I always wrote down my dreams, but now i do it on a daily basis!). I had very good results till three days ago, when my grandma (dearest to me and most beloved ) died.

After her death and since last night I would remember no dreams although I would mentally self-propose "when you have a dream you will wake up remebering it" as usual. My first thought was that exhaustion was making it difficult for me to wake up in the night .
so I gave myself some time...

Last night I slept as usual still self-proposing "-wake-after-dream-" but I also wished for my grandma to visit me in my sleep for my pain to be alleviated.

I remember no dream in the night.

Around dawntime I woke up in order to drink some water and fell back to bed.My room ,heavy curtains closed so no light could enter, was -well...- dark. I felt very tired so I decided to try the HILD method. I closed my eyes and started tapping my fingers when ,out of the blue, I heard my grandma's voice saying "shhh, dont make noise". she was sitting on my bed ,around where my feet were, and she was caressing me as mothers carress babies. I tried to speak to her but she told me not to speak because the dream would fade away .I looked around and saw the curtains were pararell to the ceiling, so I knew it was a dream. Then all went black.

When i woke up in the morning all I could remember at first is the happiness i felt...it wasnt but two hours later that the whole dream dawned on me... So, what do you say? was I lucid? was it her soul or my subconcious?

I am really sorry if the length of the post tired you or if my use of english is tooooooo awkward but i felt I HAD to say it to someone!
after all that's what the board is for, right?

well theres lots of topics whether or not one had a lucid dream and all we can freaking say is that ''if you knew it was a dream during it then it was a lucid dream..'' nothing else...

it could've been your head, or your grandmas soul thing reaching out to you...

the thing that really enstranged me (is there a word like that or I just created it?) is that control on the dream from my part was only the realisation tha I was asleep.Au contraire, she seemed to have complete control on the dream saying things like "don't speak, cause the dream will fade away". It's as if she used the dream to reach out to me or communicate with me. That's why I think it was her soul.but really...dunno what to say...did anyone had an experience like that?

well yeah you dont always have complete control over your dreams.. but it could be that the whole your granny having control over the dream can be just your subconciousness or whatever... but who knows... try to ''contact her'' in your dreams maybe?

      Hey there Welcome to DV.

Have you tried writing in your journal again? Writing down anything on a consistent basis will help boost your recall. It could have been your fervent desire to see your grandmother that made her appear in your dreams, and it sounds like you were, in fact, lucid. Maybe with her warning you didn't want to take control of the dream and it's possible that it could have faded had you tried.

Don't worry, though. Just continue to focus on dreaming and lucidity and I'm sure you'll improve very quickly. If you need any help just let me or one of the other moderators or Dream Guides know.

Amethyst Star, thank you very much for your advice.

I started writing in my dream journal again, although there isnt much to write except for the dream I mentioned here and some feelings, which are the only thing I remember from last night's sleep.

They were feelings of agony and of a depressed sex drive (with all the funeral preparations these days i didnt even have time to have a proper bath, let alone...).

      Anyways,things seem to be improving...

      We shall see...

Both. It was your Grandma contacting you through your subconscious. There is a Level in the Organization of Life in which there is no longer any separation between what we here perceive as individual souls. At that Level where there is a Unity of Spirit in which there is One Life in All Things, then the Soul of your Grandma would effectively have a direct connection into your Subconscious, no?
