Smile Fancy helping a LD newbie out? :)

      Hey! I'm new here.

I looked into Lucid Dreaming a few weeks back. I watched a lot of tutorials and read a lot of material so I'm pretty familiar with the terminology and whanot. I started keeping a dream journal - I use my iTouch for my morning alarm and I have a dream journal app on there so it's right by my bed at all times. After a few mornings I just stopped and kinda didn't bother trying to LD anymore. Thing is, I REALLY want to do it, like, really badly.

I don't suppose you could help me achieve it? All I basically need to know is how to do it effectively, preferably from people who have had success with LDing before.

      Many, many thanks in advance!

      Hi there,

Welcome to DV! The best thing might be to have a gander at the wiki tutorials and see which approach you want to try first. There'll be techniques which you like the sound of, and some you won't. Are there any techniques you want to try already?

Thanks for the advice. Which aproach would you say is the easiest for beginners? I'm serious about LDing so when I cover the basics throughly I'll move on to more advanced things. ^^

The two most popular methods are DILD and WILD. You can learn about these through the tutorial wiki on the site. KingYoshi and BillyBob also have really good WILDing tutorials on here as well.

It's good that you're already keeping a dream journal, that's the first step towards having LDs. It's really helps at improving recall and identifying your dream signs, which can later be used to help you become lucid in a DILD.

I agree with these guys. Keep a dream journal... Everyday... It also helps to immerse yourself in the subject. Read articles about lucid dreaming, read others' dream journals. Above all, perform reality checks... All the time. The more you have lucid dreaming on your mind, the more likely you are to DILD. I perform reality checks A: whenever something strange happens. B: Whenever I think about it. I know that's kinda redundant, but it's really important to do them all the time.

Another note about Dream Journals: it really helps to write them in the present/infinitive tense. As in instead of writing "I walked outside my home, and I saw a frog on the sidewalk" Use "I'm walking outside my home and I see a frog down on the sidewalk." This not only seems to help recall, making the dream seem more real, but it seems (to me at least) that if you run over your dreams in your mind from the previous night as you're falling asleep, it helps you to have more vivid dreams that night as well.
