New to this forum and to lucid dream theory

I joined this forum yesterday and read through some posts about how to induce lucid dreams and also through the German Wikibooks on lucid dreaming and most of the advice seems rather complicated or exhausting to me, espcially the WBTB, CAT and WILD techniques.
I used to think lucid dreaming was something that just happens to you and gets more frequent the more you are occupied with thinking about your dreams

Recalling dreams is fairly easy to me, I often even recall more than one dream per night. About three or four years ago I started a dream diary with the intention to gather surreal inspiration for short stories or other writings. I never ended up using any of the dreams I had written down as inspiration, but I started lucid dreaming. I didn't know there was a name for it until a friend showed me some article on the internet.
At first it was fun to explore my dreamworld, but I soon got frustrated by waking up too early and got lazy and stopped writing my dream diary. Also, dreams aren't as inspiring anymore if they're, well, consciously "self-made".
I started a dream diary again one year ago and had a whole lot of lucid dreams shortly after I started. But again, lazy me stopped writing.

I still lucid dream rather regularly, about once a month to once a week, but I'd like to have such dreams more frequently again. So I got out my dream diary again, hoping it'll work.

Joining this forum, I have a few questions and motivations.

      Questions first:

      - Has anyone else experienced increased lucid dreaming with the help of a dream diary?

      - And what do you do when lucid?
I mostly just fly around, sometimes I meet people I want to talk to, I have already double-kicked some person I hate in the face and had quite some fun of the sort that might not be appropriate for being told publicly

      - What are good ideas for things to do when lucid?
(Ok, there probably is a thread around here for this, but I haven't found it yet.)

      Now my motivations:
I hope being active on this board will on the one hand help me stay focussed and motivated enough to keep on writing my dream diary and on the other give me inspiration for what to do in my dreams and give me more insight into how lucid dreaming works and how I can learn to gain better control of my dreams whilst not waking up all early.

That's all I have to say for now, I think.

      Excitement

      Welcome to DV!

      - I haven't had more frequent lucids because of my dream diary, but it most definetely helps my dream recall to a really good extent.

      - I usually do elemental things (like summoning lightning in my hands, utilizing fire, etc.).

Hi and welcome to DV! We've all got different reasons for wanting frequent LD's. I find them insanely entertaining.

Q - Has anyone else experienced increased lucid dreaming with the help of a dream diary?

A - I had a dream diary for a few months without having the intentions of getting lucid and I didn't get them more often. I've been able to LD naturally but it's not until I started having the intentions of getting lucid that I actually started having them more often than I did without trying.

Q - And what do you do when lucid?

A - Anything! Nufeather posted a great link if you need inspiration. You could set up a few extreme tasks you intend to accomplish within a year or two, and meanwhile just focus on maintaining the dream and prolonging it. Stabilization techniques, try DEILD out. Improve your recall even further and learn some handy superpowers. Telekinesis and flying are two great ones, and fun aswell!

That's it! If you have any further questions, don't hesitate to ask!

      Thank you

I'm so amazed, I started writing in my dream diary anew just yesterday and already got lucid during one of my dreams last night. Unfortunately I lost awareness after a while and it went on being a non-lucid dream, but this little taste of lucidity definitely is enough to keep me motivated for the beginning

What I'll try in my next lucid dream: Licking random things. Because it sounds utter fun and because I read it helped stabilizing your dream.

I'd love to lick a rainbow and see what it tastes like, but getting close enough to a rainbow to lick it seems like a hard task. So I better keep that in mind for when I'll be better at keeping my lucids stable.
