      Question New and need insight.

Hello, I've been reading these forums and practicing LDing for about two months now.

Early this morning, I believe I had my first LD and was wondering if anyone could tell me how conscious I was.

Okay so this is directly from DJ with the more boring/personal details taken out.

Page 11: LD Getting the grasps.

      Friday, April 1, 2011*

I'm walking outside my building next to the park and everything looks so vivid. I stop to turn around and take in the area. An asian man is setting up a stage next to the shack getting ready to hang himself. I think maybe I should as well because I just had a major fight with my family. This hits me as silly. I suddenly start thinking about dreaming and how this is probably all a dream. I look at my hand and boom I get a rush of energy and start to fly into the air automatically. I'm still looking at my hand and it looks clear as day, I wasn't missing any fingers and I said "not dreaming", but I was flying so I started thinking "I am dreaming, this is a dream!". I tried to control my direction, but at first I was having a very hard time doing that because I wasn't sure how. A few moments later, *I figure out that to steer I had to look where I want to go. I begin to soar through the sky over what looks like a port. I don't recognize the area, but it's definitely not Canada.*

•*I flew like a plane with my hands stretched out. I was able to change my pitch & yaw with a simple **
look of the head. Turns weren't immediate and felt more like a controlled turn of an aircraft.*

As I fly over the water, buildings and bridges for what felt like a few minutes. *I eventually fly into a wood factory of some sort. I remember to remind myself that I'm dreaming and say "This is a dream". I'm not sure if it did the trick because here I think I slipped back into a ND.*

Inside there are huge trucks packed with lumber getting ready to head out. The trucks seem at least twice as big as there counter parts IWL. As I fly around, the place is getting more and more packed by the second and I'm quickly running out of flying space. I fly looking for an exit and I could hear a conversation between the workers when one of them says "he's going to shut the gate until they're finished". I make a rush for the gate and I could hear them saying that international would understand because they only ship one product. I get outside and the dream ends.

Thanks and I look forward to hearing your thoughts.

Congrats on your first LD! Also, even if you might have lost lucidity some time and regained it, it was still a lucid. Sometimes we can't think as logically as when we're awake, it doesn't mean you're not lucid.

Welcome to DV and congrats on the LD! I'm pretty sure that you were fully lucid ( I mean you were conscious of the fact you were dreaming correct?). That sounds pretty lucky how you just started flying when you did your reality check (was flying the main goal of LDing for you, or was it on your mind as something you'd love to try? because if it was maybe the mere question you asked yourself "am i dreaming?" quickly connected that thought to the concept of flying. Anyways that's very cool! As for suggestions I suggest you stabilize the dream first off (by rubbing hands, spinning(dont close your eyes), or using shout commands), then I also suggest you utilize your five senses and think of the aromas around you, the way things taste, the way things feel, how things appear, and everything you hear. I noticed you did use your senses to an extent, but if possible always increase your awareness of whats around you. You could practice your awareness in real life and carry it on into your dreams. I suggest you look at Kingyoshi's DILD tutorialhttp://www.dreamviews.com/f12/all-da...gyoshi-113253/ if you haven't yet.

Hope I helped a little and once more congrats on the LD!

It sounds like you were pretty lucid. Not a bad dream either.
Welcome to the site. Don't let your meat loaf.

      Thanks for the comments.
I'll definitely check out that DILD tutorial.
Flying was one of the things I wanted to do among others.

Also, I wanted to mention that before going to bed I was practicing the hand method.
Where you tell yourself " When I'm dreaming, I will see my hands and realize I'm dreaming".
I think that's why I became lucid by simply seeing my hand.
Even though my hand wasn't distorted or anything.
