      Explination needed

Last night, I slept for about 7 hours, I acutally went to bed early because I wanted some REM sleep so I could achieve lucidity, which I haven't experienced before. Anyhow, when I came home after school, about 3 hours after I had woken up I went to bed again, I was a bit tired and was again hoping for a lucid dream.

This time, I did the counting technique, I counted 1, I'm dreaming, 2. I'm dreaming, etc in my head, while I tried to imagine some of the dreams I had last night. What happend was that I felt numbness especially in my arms, until I felt some in the rest of my body as well. After a while this became so intense, it felt really weird so I opened my eyes. I saw double for about a minute, and I wasn't at all able to move my arms nor fingers for one minute. The rest of my body was able to move ok.
So I tried again, yet I didn't really manage to go to sleep, though when my imagination became very intense, when I felt that I was going on sleeping it all sort of shut off, and I recalled that I was supposed to count. This happend maybe 4 times, even though I really tried to sleep, it just wouldnt happen, but I was able to imagine things pretty well.

During this whole time, which for me felt like 20-25 minutes, I wasn't able to sleep any nor dream at all, as I saw it. Only imagine things vividly. When I decided to give up and climb out of the bed, I realized that I had been there for 2 hours and 10 minutes. What in the hell is going on?

      Hi Vinje, welcome to Dreamviews!

That used to happen to me quite a bit when I was seriously into meditation a while ago.

It sounds to me like you were relaxed to the point that you were about to enter sleep paralysis. Have you read the tutorial on WILD yet?

This technique might work well for you.

      Good luck!
you must be the change you wish to see in the world...

Yes, I read the tutorial a few days ago when I first heard about lucid dreaming. I think I did much of the same thing here, except for that I didn't sleep for about 5-6 hours then wake up, stay up for 20-90 minutes and go back to bed again.

I was for sure between entering a dream-stadium and being consious for most of the time, atleast of which I can remember. My explination to this must be that I actually fell to sleep a few times, but woke up again and thought that I was about to go to sleep, in which I forgot to continue counting. Could it be that I was way too obsessed by this counting technique?

Another thing I began wondering about was the numbness in my arms, which slowly spread to my sholders and some of my back. At first i thought it could have been because I was pressurizing my arms by having them under my head or something, but I had both arms on each side, free of any pressure, so some part of my brain must have gone to sleep there I guess, awesome feelnig for a while there, not being able to move anything. The only thing I cant really figure out is why exactly my arms was so paralysed and numb, while the rest of my body was only tingeling, and I was able to move the rest of my body when I woke up. My arms was totally paralysed, I couldnt move them at all and I didn't feel anything when I bounced my head to my thumb. Could it have been that I some how cutted off the circulation to my arms or something simular? Its much of the same feeling you get if you sit on your arm for long, though this felt stronger.

After what I think, my arms was placed on each side parallel to my head, my head might have been placed a bit lower down, my arms wasnt stretched, they were bent.
