Thread: Deja Vu and Dreams

I feel that most folks that experience some form of Deja Vu, either feeling having been there before or having done that before, are simply recalling dream memories for the better part of it.

There are so many places that we've been to and so many things we've done in our dreams, that all of these experiences are imbedded in our memory bank and mostly lie there dormant until something triggers them. Then one day we see, or do something, and suddenly get the feeling and sensation that we've been here, seen it or done it before. And immediately some think that it must have been in some other previous life.

I feel that most of these instances are triggered due to something that we've experienced before in a dream. After all, we've been dreaming all of our lives and will continue doing so til the end. And dream sensations and vividness are just as real as real-life situations, especially when they are LDs. Both real-life and dream scenarios, are automatically imported into the same memory bank of our minds as memory. But years and years may go by before something triggers them.

So next time you experience Deja Vu, consider that you may have experienced this similar situation in some dream world, years ago and not necessarily in a previous life.

I totally agree with you. Most of my Deja Vu experiences has been about I know that I haven't done before. One example was at a golf-tourney. I was at the first tee, and I managed to bearly touch the wall, which rolled 20 meters while many people were watching. I mean, its something which never happens, but I am pretty sure of that I have dreamt it before. I often dream about playing and weird situations, so I am pretty sure of that it has been in one of my dreams. Anyhow, I got a deja vu feeling in the moment when I realized where the ball went and saw the shocked faces on the players around me, probably because of my cursing.

Anyways, you got a real good point there, never thought of it before.

I actually have de ja vu atleast 5 times a day and i was about to start a topic on this but is it possible that dream can predict the futur? Cause I dream recalled when i woke up somthing and then somthing similar or exactly the same happened.

I find that if i don't tell anyone about my deja vu, it continues, though if I tell somone i have it, or otherwise 'record' it, it seems to dissapear, like a bubble bursting or something. I don't get it much though..


reg the nature of them, I think of the question my philosophy teacher once asked me, "why do we remember the past and not the future" gets me thinking along the right track. The future must exist in order for there to be something for the present to move into, kinda like space must exist for you to travel through (your destination as well as your origin), so if that is the case, maybe within your dreams you can sometimes experience things out of sequence, getting sensations you have yet to experience, thus giving you some memory of them when you come to 'actually' experience them?

I'd have to agree with that completely my deja vu always comes from dreams, and because i dream recall near everynight and get 1-3 dreams a night they're stongly stuck in my mind as i think about them alot when i write them down. i dont get deja vu very often though...
