      Finally lucid!

Finally! I had my first lucid dream last night. It all started with me asking myself "Am I dreaming now" and I got this wicked feeling and saw myself sitting in my room with a friend of mine. It was so awesome to see how the text on newspapers changed each time I looked at it, as well as my digital board-watch.

Anyways, something I didn't quite understand was. I wanted to turn on the light in my room, but the light switch didn't work. It was a sort of a round switch, because I use a dimmer. So I changed it into a normal light switch, nothing happend once I pushed that either. So I looked around myself, saw how things were, my friends eyes were a bit different. Then I wanted to make more people join the little gathering there, so I tried to visualize that they came, but I couldnt manage to bring any more people into that room. At that moment, I think I went back to sleep again, and woke up later, being lucid in another room. With different people. I just sat there talking, doing reality tests etc. Too bad I didnt try to jump high, go through walls or fly. For sure going to do that next time.

So, should it be easier for me to have more lucid dreams now, as I have had my first one? I had a false awakening the night before this, and my dream recall has become a lot more stronger. I remember having two dreams before this lucid dream, so is it most likely that it has been initiated by reality checks I have been doing? I often do a reality check each time I go through a door, but I keep forgetting about doing it, and I did noone yesterday, so it doesnt make sense. As I mentioned, I have only known about this for 4 days, been doing reality checks for one day.

Anyhow, before I went to sleep, I read about this technique: http://www.dreamviews.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=13810 seems very simple, as I often enjoy an hour or so at my laptop before going to sleep, I thought I should try it out. So I visualized my screen showing the dream view forum until I went to sleep, after about a minute or so.

So, was it because of this technique or the reality checks I did yesterday? Really wondering about that, since I had two dreams before my lucid dream. Anyhow, its great!

Well, it is very common in dreams that the light switch doesn't work, its a very good dream sign. So be careful about that and look out for it in future dreams.. Besides that, congratulations on your first lucid, and it should be easier from here on out to obtain future ones, although its not guaranteed. After my first lucid, I had a good streak going for a while, but they can come in spurts. But awesome that you had your first, and keep at it, you'll get better and better and they will kick ass!!!

      Hey Vinje - congrats
Now you know what it feels like

      Let's see now..

This is quite normal. Many mechanical things act strange in a dream, especially light switches. People use this as a reality check btw
One theory is that it is difficult to change the light condition in your dream, because your eyes are still active and able to 'see' the diffused light in your room (or lack of)

Then I wanted to make more people join the little gathering there, so I tried to visualize that they came, but I couldnt manage to bring any more people into that room. [/b]
It'll take practice. Tip - make it easier to believe (ie. make it seem normal). Eg. there's a knock on the door, and people visiting. Also take it for granted. Don't try, just do. Expect it to work.

With different people. I just sat there talking, doing reality tests etc. Too bad I didnt try to jump high, go through walls or fly. For sure going to do that next time.[/b]
Yep, lately all my lucid dreams are from trying to fly, and being amazed when it works.
This is apparently not foolproof though, but seems pretty good for me
      Everyone differs though. Try it

So, was it because of this technique or the reality checks I did yesterday? Really wondering about that, since I had two dreams before my lucid dream. Anyhow, its great![/b]
It's probably a bit of both. Reality checking teaches you to be on your toes, and you might find yourself realising a dream even without them. It's still at least partly because you made yourself suspicious of reality
