      My introduction.....

Allow me to introduce myself. I'm Malkav( well, that's not my real name of course ) and i'm writing to you from the far end of the globe. I'm kinda new on this lucid dreaming experience. Actually, i've only try it for the past 2 weeks, and i must say that the experience has been really rewarding, because i'm now capable of remembering at least 3-4 dreams by night, which was almost impossible for me (or so i thought). Alas, i cannot remember them for more than 10-15 minutes, and i never have any paper close to write it down!! and, when i do have a pen and paper close, the second i start writing it down it slowly fades away....well, i gotta keep trying i guess.
I do have a fresh one, though; it was the first night that i tried to do it: I was on an Anthropology class (oh, yeah, another fact: i study Sociology on the University of Valparaiso..not that it matters, but maybe you wanna know...) and the teacher tells me that i have to talk about a book in front of the whole class. I argued with him since that book it was scheduled for next week, and suddenly the conversation was not a conversation anymore! totally out of control, the teacher begin to yell at me, saying that i was an irresponsable student as he stands up with a "i'm gonna bust your skull with my fist" face.. then it cracked me... since how long that teacher (a 65 year old very charismatic, polite, french-educated teacher) had become such a jerk! "this gotta be some kind of practical joke, where the camera?" was my first thought, but the second one was 'i gotta be dreaming, then'. I begun to analize the situation, and it was all really fuzzy, a very cliché enviroment actually. "'Damn, i'm dreaming now", and i woke up.
As i write a few lines earlier, i guess i just gotta keep on trying. Well, that's all for now, folks! I should be posting here every once in a while, so we'll keep on touch. Thanks for reading this, and farewell!
I was looking for answers...and I didn't know the questions....
LD's: 1.25 so far (yeah, .25....i just can't take the second one as a full LD)

      hey Malkav, welcome to DreamViews.

3-4 dreams a night, that's great...but you say you can only remember them for a short while before they fade, even when you're writing it down? o_o that's strange, usually writing them down helps people remember them even better!
yeah, I guess you should just keep trying. maybe it'll improve after awhile. once you're able to remember a few every night, you should be ready to try different techniques. I'd suggest starting out with Dreamsigns and Reality Checks, but you can use whatever you'd like. (there are plenty of different techniques described in the Tutorials Section, along with alot of other useful information, so be sure to check it out.)

waking up as soon as you become lucid in a dream (usually due to excitement) is normal at first, but over time you'll become more relaxed and it'll be easier to stay in a Lucid Dream.

if you have any questions feel free to post them or send a Private Message to a member of the staff.

One needs to wonder about the content of this Dream. A respected archetypical figure was yelling at you that you are unprepared, and you were arguing with him that you expected one more week. Well, what do you think your Dream Mind was trying to tell you? Apparently your Dream Mind is calling you up for Service that you would rather be putting off.

Lucidity is all find and good, but one needs to appreciate the messages our Higher Mind is sending us through our dreams. Remembering dreams is important also, but more important than mere remembering is to reflect upon them and evaluate our behavior and responses while in the dreams.

If I had a dream such as you had, I would vow to my Higher Mind to act in present and be prepared for the NOW.

It is odd how those of us who have gone to school will dream our entire lives of being back in school -- it must be something of an archetypical situation. I am now an old man and still find myself in dreams of school -- going for more advanced degrees and even repeating programs. I've finally decided that I should 'graduate' myself once and for all and accept that now the Work must commence. Enough of school. But, usually these dreams of being in school are telling us to prepare -- to study every day so that when the tests come we will meet them with due preparation; to attend classes and to know our schedules. The good news is that people who have these anxiety dreams about being illprepared in school are typically those people who are most prepared and successful in life -- as though the anxiety of our dreams is an impetus to be prepared in our real lives. But still, when a dream gives us a message, we should consciously acknowledge it.

"Yes, Professor, I should be able to report on that book right now." Would saying that have killed you?

Welcome to DVs Malkav! You'll really like this community You have pretty good LDing skills if you can realize those things in only two weeks of trying it, congrats.

      Allo allo.

2-3 dreams per night is quite good, usually takes people a while t get that, and having a short lucid dream after 2 weeks of trying? also very good!

      Seems like you're a natural.

As for the pen and paper, be more prepared! set yourself up the ngiht before, it takes but a minute to do.

As for what Leo said, i'm not so sure, i've never been good at interpretation of dreams :/

Any questions? PM one of the green dreamguides (not me, though, going away for a while soon) that IS what we're here for.

      Hope to see you around!
