      My intro.

      Hey everybody, new guy here.
ive recently decided to do this lucid dreaming thing seriously. i was lucid for a time on night 4. last night, night 5 since i started, i became totally lucid using the dream reentry method in the tutorials. i reentered the dream lucid and as an eagle. i have problems maintaining lucidity though, i seem to wake up for no reason...

Hello, faxon, and welcome to Dream Views!

It's normal that you wake up from your first lucid dreams almost immediately after you get lucid. Usually it's because you get too excited. You should try to stay as calm as possible at the moment you realize that you're dreaming or enter the dream. At first it might be hard, but after you get some LDs, it shouldn't be a problem anymore. You could also try some tricks to maintain lucidity if you notice that you're starting to wake up. One such a trick, which I have used, is rubbing your hands together.
Don't think about those damn kangaroos.

You wake up for the reason that the dream was over. Dreams are written to fit into an almost precise REM sleep cycle. As the night progresses, these periods of dreaming do come in longer durations. Also, by either twirling, or waving one's arms about, or by rapid breathing, one can incrementally lengthen the duration of a Dream; however, one is still confined by the physical restrictions presented by the physiological basis of Dreaming/ Just as one cannot sleep for 24 hours a day, one cannot dream for 24 hours a day.

Oh, and when you dream you are an eagle, do you eat fish or rats?
