      Question about reality checks

Hey I have just got into this lucid dreaming stuff and have had a dream journal for around 5 days now as well as doing many reality checks each day such as looking at text on my hand counting my fingers etc. I am yet to have a lucid dream. So my question is if I set my phone to beep every hour and do a reality check when it beeps could I let it beep in my sleep to remind me to do a reality check. Would this work? Also I am surprized that no one has tried recording their voice saying you are dreaming and playing it back whilst they sleep? could this work also. So far I have only tried the WBTB with MILD but as I said only 5 days so I guess I have to be patient.

      Hi Dreamo28

First of all welcome to Dreamviews!!

The question regarding the hour alarm...well i´ve put that question myself here on dv. And after some answers i think i can explain you how it works.

Suggesting a new behaviour to your brain takes time...you are programming it via mnemonic input.

Like Mancon and others explained to me...the alarm is not important , the only thing important is the habit that your brain will develop to do reality checks. And that habit is built with repetitive pattern of behaviour. The more you do reality checks, the more chances your brain starts to do it on its own in the dream world.

Who said no one has tried?

Once again, brain programming. A message or behaviour repeated many times acts as a new "program" for your brain to follow.

So my best advice would be for you to keep up with your own program

P.S. when trying a technique, wbtb, mild, wild doesn´t matter wich one, try to follow that technique for at least a month or so to see if you achieve results, changing techniques to soon will result in lack of success, and thus leading you to frustration. Above everything, dont force any process, stick with your program, whatever it is, and let it flow.

      Hey Dreamo, welcome to Dreamviews!

Some people can take months before they have their first lucid dream, and others can get it really quickly. I hope this doesn't discourage you (it's definitely worth it when you get an LD ), but you're right, it can take a lot of patience. Keep working at it and you won't be disappointed in the end. Good luck!
