Waking up in a dream and losing lucidity

The other night, I became lucid in my dream after noticing that my hair was much longer than it should be. However, a few minutes later, my hair shrunk back to regular length, and so I thought I must not be dreaming anymore.
What should I do in a case like this, where I didn't exactly "wake up" in my dream, but I still lost lucidity?

Well it helps me to do a reality check immediately after becoming lucid, then perform some kind of stabilization. For example you could first put your fingers on your nose, try to breathe, then spin around to stabilize the dream. Doing these things tends to break me away from the flow of the dream plot and become more rational. From that point you can just focus on the fact that you are dreaming. Generally as people gain more experience with lucid dreaming they can stay in the dream longer without losing lucidity or waking up.

You just have to keep in mind that you're dreaming. I did 3 reality checks before stopping to stabilize by feeling the objects around me. Later in the dream, I was continuously aware that I was in a dream (because I basically had a "fuck no, I'm dreaming" attitude to any DC that would ask me to do something).
