      Lucid for a Long Time

      Hi All,
I just discovered this forum today. From time to time, I look up info about Lucid Dreaming on the Net. I've been doing lucid dreaming since before I knew what it was. I used to tell people that I could "control" the actions in my dreams and they had no idea what I was talking about. My best friend was doing research on OBE about 10 years ago and fell into info about lucid dreaming. That was when I learned what this gift is and that it is real. I've had the innate ability to really control my dreams for about 15 years. As a child, I would often be aware in my dreams that I was dreaming.

I have lucid dreams almost every night. I love to fly in my dreams. In real life, I'm sort of afraid of heights, but in my dreams, I love to zoom to the top of a skyscraper and just dive down and fly and float among the buildings and above everyone on the sidewalks. I've also changed people into other people that I'd rather talk to in my dreams. I've also had sweet dreams where I conjure up my beloved dead dog and hold and hug her.

I've also change my dream destiny when I have a nightmare. My nightmares usually consist of seeing something gory, not like a monster chasing me. This one time, I dreamed that I walked into a morgue, and I knew in my mind that there was an autopsy being performed and there were body parts all over the table. I was able to prevent my dream mind from seeing the gore, even though I knew it was there.

I also have the ability to get back to where a dream left off after I have been awoken in order to continue it. Sometimes, it seems that I have one dream that lasts all night like a movie, but I don't know if this is distortion of time or really possible. Any thoughts??

Anyway, all the stuff I've read about how to learn to have lucid dreams is stuff I learnd on my own along the way, like the spinning theory. Except for me, I'll try to look at something spinning, like a vortex of water.

Anyway, sorry this is so long, but in reading the posts here, I think I've come really far in lucid dreaming, further than some people on the board. Maybe I can offer some advice to someone in the future.

      Hi Guys,

Thanks for the welcome. You know, I find it a little odd that most of the posters on this board are male. I wonder why. I haven't explored the theory of lucid dreaming much except with my best friend and a psychotherapist I once had who was facinated about it. I'm hoping to learn and exchange from this forum from people who understand it. This could be very interesting.

      Welcome!

      And WOW.

Your lucky to have that kind of skill with your dreams. I just joined this site last week and am still trying to have my first LD. I think when I was younger I used to have lucid dreams alot but over time its kinda slipped away.

Anyways, I hope to see ya around!

      Howdy howdy howdy =)

Sharing your experiences with us is what this forum is all about, we share and exchange ideas, which helps everyone here!

There are a few females on the forum, but yes it does seem to be male dominated at the moment. I dont know why, I bet there are just as many women into Lucid dreaming, but they have yet to find this place =)

There are a some people here that have been LD'ing since they can remember and there are also some that discovered it and learned how to do it themselves, we all seem to have different experiences regardless of how we came into lucidity, which is aawsome because we get to learn so many differnt things and are given ideas we wouldent have thought of!

The reason most are male I think, has to do with the face more guys are online more often than girls, nothing to do with lucidity.

There are a few techniques that you can learn to slow down your lucids and extend you stay in lucid dream land. This techniques works well for me. Look at your hands in your dream and say "stabilize lucidity now". I think that using verbal commands work like a charm. Also...if you feel things sort to become fuzzy and fade out and the verbal commands aren't working stop whatever you are doing and just look at SOMETHING, anything...that is around you. The carpet on the floor, the texture of the wall, a door knob, the sand you are standing on...anything!! If you look closely and examine it is detail it should make your LD alot more vivid and realistic and keep you from feeling so huried and should extend your stay a bit longer.

      Good luck ^_^
