Hey CC
The first thing suggested to any newbie is: Get yourself a dream journal. If you have one, do you make yourself write in it in the morning? If you do, what do you do when you first wake up? It's very very important to make sure you don't move when you wake up, because any movement will cause you to start forgetting. Then, while lying in bed, think of the last thing you remember, be it an emotion, a character, an event, or even a color or emotion. Then work backwards and ask yourself what happened before that. Often if you remember one detail, more memories will go with it. Once you've got it all in your head of what happened in your dream, make sure you're not going to forget it immediately, and then write it down. It's good to start with a list of one or two word phrases as a summary, then you can go back and fill in the rest of the details.
I hope this helped. If you have any other questions about dream recall or anything in general, just give me a ring.
