      My First Try! : Results

OK, just yesterday I learned of Lucid dreaming and spent a great deal of time reading over this site and learning stuff. So I made sure I went to bed nice n early so I would have plenty of REM sleep. While I was laying there falling asleep I kept telling myself "I will do this tonight. I will realize its a dream and do something about it". As I got closer and closer to slipping away It got soo hard to keep it on my mind untill finally I was asleep. Now I remember waking up multiple times last night but only once I wrote down a dream. The other times it was like I had to fight myself to try to remember it and before I could I would already be back to sleep. Do I normally wake up this many times in the night and just dont remember? I have no idea why I woke up. Possibly I was achieving this Lucid dream state and then waking up but I couldnt remember doing so. The 1 dream I could remember was that me and all of my brothers got a job at kroger and we were laughing at my younger brother because he was only making 5.15 an hour. Thats all I remember. Any Ideas? I am gonna continue to write down my dreams when I wake up. Its very hard though!!!

      UPDATE!!
I went back to my bedside where I had my journal laying and I got like a flashback of another dream I had last night. The dream was that me and my younger brother found a secret underwater place through the freezer. It was like a.. room filled with water that was dark blue. It got deeper, bigger, and darker as u went farther into the room. We were breathing underwater but I guess I was too dumb to realize it. Its weird that I would swim in a place like that because I am afraid of deep in the ocean + deep pools. Anway we then ventured to a girls house because her freezer was bigger and we could fit more people into this passageway.

Well thats 2 dreams soo far. Hopefully tonight (my 2nd try) goes better!!

Sweet! Just keep at it Corey. The more you put down, the more you train yourself to remember your dreams. Just one little piece of advice, train yourself to do an RC when you first wake up. Many of the times we think we wake up end up being false awakenings, so just in case you have one you'll be ready.

Once you get a few LD's in you can try doing a inducing technique like WILD

That is a good idea about doing one just as I wake up. Today I did about 20+ reality checks. Im a little confused about what they are really. Here are some of the ones I tried... 1. Looking at the time, looking away, then back again to see if it changes. 2. Plugging my nose and seeing if I can breath. 3. Pushing my index finger through my other hand. I dont know if these are good ones but Im kinda confused about what u are supposed to do. Just look for something that cant happen in real life?

Also: A girl at work told me that you can make urself have a lucid dream by imagining a plant around ur neck with fire in the middle of it. Or something like this. She said u do it just before you fall asleep and it is supposed to help. Any Idea what she was talking about? Im gonna try it tonight as I go to sleep.

I have a question. Once you go into a lucid dream and you realize its a dream. Do you do the things that u want to do when awake? LIke does my awake mind take over? Or is it a different feeling.. like your sleeping mind makes the decisions? I dont understand how this works.

I'll reply tomarrow afternoon on what happens tonight .

It depends, I you're 100% lucid so to say. You're gonna be the one who makes the decisions...If you're not totally sure it's a dream, then you dont have that kinda power over the dream...

First off, the reality checks are meant to be things that can't happen in real life. So, if you find yourself plugging your nose and are still able to breathe, you're dreaming. It's usually good to do more than once at a time, just in case one doesn't work for whatever reason.

Technically, you don't "go into" a lucid dream, you simply realize that you are already in a dream. At that point, you can pretty much do whatever you want. You can fly, scuba dive, create a new species of flower, or whatever floats your boat. There is a particularly different feeling when you're lucid, but it depends on how "into" the dream you are. It will feel like reality, or it may feel "more real" than waking life. It just depends and for me it seems like each one has been different. As for who's making the decisions, I say it's the conscious mind, but a natural tendency is to either wake up (being close to coming out of a dream) or falling back into a normal dream that you don't control for the most part. It just depends on how lucid you are.

About the whole plant around your neck thing, never heard of it. But if you think it'd help you, feel free to give it a shot. It must be nice to have someone to talk to about LDs who won't just brush you off

Last night wasnt that great. I didnt remember waking up any times and I diddnt remember any dreams. I just took a 4 hour nap so I dont know how my dream cycle is gonna be tonight since I'm gonna have to go back to bed in 2 hours. Hopefully I dream a ton and remember them.

Ever since my psychology tought us about this lucid dreaming a lot of my friends are all trying it. I cant wait till I finally get it!

      What Dreams May Come

Hey! Last night I saw starwars and then went home and went to bed. I soo wanted to have a lucid dream about starwars but it didnt happen. I didnt remember any dreams. This girl told me of a movie called "What Dreams may come". SHe said its like lucid dreaming. It turned out to be pretty sweeet. Heaven in the movie is like a lucid dream. They just close their eyes and imagine themselves somewhere and they are there. Robin Williams even tries flying in the movie. He does a horrible job but he does. Well im off to bed. Hopefully I have beautiful dreams that I remember!!!
