What's with your third eye? I don't get it.

Can somebody please explain what exactly your chakra is? I've read somewhere that if you look up toward the center of your eyebrows that your supposed to fall asleep within three minutes and have a lucid dream. Looking up there for that long hurts! Can somebody explain to me this third eye thing? Thanks a bunch! oh yeah you can AIM me at UniqueWeasel12 if you like! I'd enjoy a good chat.

Umm.... Don't do that anymore. As far as I can tell all of us here that lucid dream do not do that. And that 3rd eye thing is not actually an eye and has no location on your body. It is representing something else.

hrm. really? i've never heard that before, so i can neither confirm nor refute that. doesn't really sound like a good idea to me though.

oww....you're right, that deos hurt...but i held it for 4mins37secs and i didn fall asleep...my geuss is that its a buncha bs lol...your third eye = your minds eye...it is often drawn on the forehead as a literal third eye, but its just symbolic of what you see with your mind...close your eyes and visualize the inside of your house as if you were looking around...thats you looking around with your minds eye...get it? as for the chakra thing, im not quite as familiar with it, so someone might have to correct me if im wrong, but im fairly certain your chakra is pretty much the same thing as your aura etc. ...basically its the energy flowing about/within you...or your spirit if you care to make the connection...

You don't look towards it, you just focus your mind on it.

I've been doing a lot of chakra work lately.

Maybe I'm just weird, but I have tried looking to the center of my forehead. Didn't actually have a lucid dream, but it was the closest I've gotten to a WILD....I think it was because I thought it would help, and by thinking that, lucid dreams were on my mind. Course, maybe it was just the time and place...

Seems you had really great responses on this but Lemmee have a go at trying to esplain this.

First off there's the physical self and then there's the spiritual self.
When we're asleep the spiritual self takes charge and runs amok- sometimes trying to tell us things we need to know in dreams.

The brain has an electro magnetic field. (Im not making this up)

which in MHO is what the Chakra IS.

The 3rd eye and 6 other points are areas that your chakra flows to and from. The "EYE" is the center most point from where your dreams are accessed. An Inner eye, if you will.

This is my method of meditating and remembering my dreams
and it's been far more successful for ME than any other.

      I hope that helps.

simple way to find your third eye. close your eyes, look up at the sun, focus on the middle of your forehead, it will get pink-red color after breathing a few time. That's your third eye. It's where you visualize things.

I sometimes shift my sight to this point, basically to change, begin or end the train of images I am experiecing....

I have done this before I even knew about the third eye thing....
      If I hadn't made me
I'd be more inclined to bow
Powers that be would have swallowed me up
But that's more than I can allow...

I've dabbled in self hypnosis and made a fool of myself for stage hypnotists a few times, and something I notice is that the looking up into the back of your head thing is what really *fires it all off* kinda...
As soon as he clicks his fingers it's your eyes that go: up and back - and that just relaxes everything...
Once you're looking up into the back of your head you can't open your eyes - so it really blocks out the outside world and somehow I seem to become more focussed and relaxed.
Looking backwards helps me to get to sleep if I want to; also it is something highlighted by the head of my Karate dojo as an important technique in meditation.
I did a bit of meditation through Ananda Marga Yoga, but in that there seemed to be less focus on the looking up and backwards thing .

Hey, thanks for reminding me, i've just realised this technique works wonders for me! :yumdumdoodledum:
The boredoms are like a moon on a lake. Only there is no moon and no lake. Only boredoms. So do not talk as if there is an actual thing called BOREDOMS NATURE
