      New here, curious.

Hey there all. Firstly let me tell you what a fascinating forum this is. I'm interested in looking in to this whole lucid dreaming concept. Although I'm not sure if I will try initiate one yet or not. Don't like the idea of SP. Although I believe I may have already have had 2 cases of it before. Even though I wasnt paralysed so to speak.

These dreams, or nightmares rather happened at a very young age for me. I'm now 18, these nightmares happened when I was well below 7, maybe even around 4 or 5.
Both of them are so clear to me and I can still recall them to this day.
The first one I had at 4 or 5, I was asleep (I think) and I was having a nightmare. This man was behind bars, like the type you see in a wild west sheriffs office. He was telling me some stuff what was going to happen to family members of mine. The terrifying part of it all for me back then was waking up and still have this man talking to me.

The second dream I had when I was a few years older. This was one of the most terrifying moments I have ever experienced. Same situation again, dreaming of vampires chasing me and closing in on me, I suddenly am half out of the dream, although they are still closing in on me, coming up the stairs, in the window, next thing I know I'm sitting on my toilet seat screaming and crying.

Nowadays though I don't really have nightmares, or If I do, they really dont affect me at the time or in the morning. I do have the odd vivid dream that I can recall a lot, never though have I been able to control an element of a dream though. At least that I'm aware off.

Well excuse my blabbering, hope to spend some time here, learning some new info and hopefully sharing some back too.

Thank you! First of all, you don't HAVE to get into SP to lucid dream. The only methods where you get into SP to have a lucid dream are WILDing and DEILDing. There are many other techniques that doesn't involve SP. If you would like to read more about the different methods, and how to do them click here. Second of all, you just have to remember anything you experience in SP is NOT real, and can not harm you. The first few times can be a bit scary, but you will get used to it. Also, SP isn't ALWAYS scary, sometimes you experience things you like!

Nightmares at a young age are common. I had a recurring nightmare from the age of 3 to 10. I know how you feel! Like you, I don't get nightmares often anymore. If I do, I just brush them off and remind myself nothing in it was real.

Anyway, I hope to see you around more. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask...good luck!!!

Thanks for the welcome guys. Last night I done many reality checks before sleeping. I also kept telling myself in my head " I will remember my dream(s)". I woke up this morning and tried to recall it straight away and it just wouldnt come. Half an hour later I remembered a few details about the dream. All I remember is I was at a house party of some sort and I kept warning my mate not to try rip my jacket or I would become agressive. Definitely going to keep a dream journal.

Yeah, I know it seems to be over talked here but seriously it works. I started keeping a dream journal and in just a month I can recall most of my dreams vividly.

      Anyway, welcome to Dream Views!
