What Would This Be Described As?

So, about 2 weeks ago, I had a very, very odd experience. The dream started off as a normal dream. I was in my math class, and there was a friend of mine sitting next to me. She was really pissing off my teacher, and my teacher was getting really annoyed, and the teacher called me over. She asked me to calm my friend down or get her to leave. Something along those lines. After that I sat back down and the dream ended, and I woke up.

When I woke up, it was weird. My body wasn't tingling, but my skin was, and I couldn't move for a second. I felt like someone had just pulled my pants up. Like, they were down, and someone just pulled them back up, and I was moaning. I didn't know why. After about 30 seconds, I caught myself, and the tingling stopped, and I was freaked out. I sat up, and I tried to calm down, then I started laying down and tried to fall back to sleep again, when I suddenly heard loud knocking on my wall. I got even more creeped out, so I turned on all the lights, and became afraid to fall asleep again. I watched TV for almost 4 hours, when I eventually grew so tired I just fell asleep.

I've felt fine ever since, but, I've had trouble sleeping ever since. I'm afraid to sleep, and I've become much, much, much more paranoid. I told my friend about this and she suggested it was Lucid Dreaming, so, I looked into it, but, it doesn't sounds like it at all. In fact, Lucid Dreaming seems fun and interesting, and something I would like to look into & practice, which is what brought me here.

However, this incident keeps bothering me and making me more and more paranoid. So. What happened to me that night?

It sounds like sleep paralysis. People experience numbness/tingling sensations if their between sleep and wakefulness. Some people also experience auditory hallucinations in this state, experiences have been described as either banging, glass shattering, even people whispering. Should you practice lucid dreaming you'll probably experience something similar again, but it's nothing to be afraid of I hope that eased your sense of paranoia, I understand how that could be frightening.

      Good luck!

Thank you for being brave enough to share this experience with us here. I hope to be a help to you. What you experienced that night may very well had been a hypnogogic state experiences. It's simply the threshold between waking and dreaming. Things can be strange, and you can experience hallucinations that are quite realistic. My advice to you is this: recognize that Fear is a thief. Fear wants to steal the experience of beautiful, long, fulfilling Lucid dreams from you and it's up to you to kick this thief out of your life! Remind yourself that the same God who gave you the gift of Life and consciousness has also given you the gift of dreams and lucidity. Trust that you are protected and loved, and enjoy in hopeful expectation your next manifest lucid dream <3

You just experienced Sleep Paralysis my friend. You'll get used to it as you practice Lucid Dreaming.

There is no reason to be afraid. Like people have mentioned, you just experienced sleep paralysis. Read around on the topic. It is strange how the elements of each experience are always so consistently similar. People have been describing this for hundreds (thousands!) of years. Think how confused you would have been if you couldn't look things up on the internet. You would have just had a first hand experience with ghosts, demonic possession, alien abduction, ect. This is where all that mythology comes from We invented it to try and describe this common experience.
