      Hello! :D

      Hi guys

I'm fairly new to lucid dreaming, before I one day decided to google it I've only had maybe two or three lucid dreams my whole life (if i had more then i probably forgot about them after waking up.. :d).

I've been keeping a dream journal and doing reality checks for the past three months. Lately I've noticed something that's been driving me a bit mad, so be warned :shade wink:
for the past month or so every time I think of doing a reality check I also suddenly become aware of my blinking. this happens almost all the time now, sometimes just minutes apart, and I don't know how it happened. is there any way to make myself forget about the blinking?

      Welcome to DV ^_^
It's always good to have a few LDs under your belt, regardless of how many.
Dream journals and reality checks are always a good way to start, and the blinking thing, that's good.
It's good you are becoming aware of random things like that, just keep it up and be confident
if you have any questions feel free to ask here or send me a PM.

      Hello and Welcome,
Dream recall is one of the most important aspects for lucid dreaming, so I'm glad you are starting a dream journal.
Blinking, what's the best way to forget something, don't try to forget it!
You should try All Day Awareness if you haven't already, much more effective in my opinion!
      Have fun!

Welcome to the forums, Flask! I am glad you decided to join!

You mentioned mentioned you had two or three lucid dreams before you decided to google them. What about after? Have you have any in the three months you have been keeping a dream journal and practicing reality checks? Are you going to be keeping a dream journal on this site?

I recommend you just focus on something else while doing reality checks instead of blinking. How did you get to where you were? What does everything look like? Pay attention to all the details.

Anyway, good luck with lucid dreaming! If you have any questions you are ALWAYS welcome to PM me, and I will try to reply as soon as I can.

      Thanks for the responses!

what other techniques for lucid dreaming are there besides reality checking and keeping a dream journal? I guess I can look around the forums more
I haven't had any in the past two weeks, probably because of school..but before that maybe 1-2 lucid dreams every week or so since I started practicing

for those of you who encourage the blink-thing why do you say it's a good thing? I think it keeps me from concentrating and find it annoying

I'm not sure how it started, one day I just suddenly became aware of blinking randomly while I also had the thought of doing a reality check pop into my head. Then after that every time I remembered to reality check I also become blink aware. and Now I just randomly become blink aware

There plenty of other techniques! WILD, MILD, WBTB, DEILD, etc. You can find each of them with a brief description here!

Aww Yeah, school definitely affects my lucids. Hopefully you will start having them! Good luck!

Awareness is important when it comes to lucid dreaming. The more aware you are during the day, the more aware you will be in your dreams, and the more likely you are to notice something strange and become lucid.

There are a few techniques that focus on awareness, like Puffin's Sporadic Awareness Technique and KingYoshi's All Day Awareness Technique.
