      Need Some help please

Hi I've been trying to experience a lucid dream for quite some time now. My problem is with my dream recall. I have been keeping a DJ for a few months and it is quite empty. my last entry was 29 days ago. I have been trying all the various techniques to improve recall (not moving upon waking etc.) but it just doesnt seem to help. Every night i tell myself i will remember my dreams and write them down, however when i wake up....nothing. I have tried setting alarms in different increments of time but still nothing. I think one big problem is that my job prevents me from having a regular sleep schedule. I know its possible to achieve lucidty with an irregular schedule because my friends does it quite often. I guess im just asking if I should just wait unti i can establish a regular schedule? My dream recall has never been good as long as i can remember. thanks for any help

What I actually do is when I wake up I close my eyes again and think, "hmm, what did I dream about?" I usually start getting fragments of the dream after a few seconds. When you wake up, just lay there, don't jump out of bed.

Hi Threbel, I'm a natural lucid dreamer and even I have bad dry spells and so do others, I am still in one now and keep getting little snippits now and again of my dreams sometimes but usually I recollect my dreams in full really well..this will pass as much as you think it wont..you must stay positive, keep telling yourself you will remember your dream and BELIEVE it, they will either slowly come back or just suddenly come back, my come back gradually, i know my dry spell that i'm having at the min is near an end. It may help if you sit for a minute and go through some previous dreams you remember or have in your DJ, sometimes you pick up on something and suddenly remember something from your previous dream. Go through any of your dream signs one at a time, this is what I do and a spark lights up and even if I get a snippet of my dream thats great. I have a really irregular schedule too and this doesn't hinder me so I wouldn't nesecerally say thats a main problem. Trust in yourself that you will remember and again BELIEVE it, it will come back, dry spells are a pain in the ass lol, i had one that went on for 2 months or more and then suddenly i started to remember them all again, they come and go and it's just something you have to deal with i'm afraid, also please do as Raetin says as that will help immensley, good luck to you

Yup, I had a irregular sleeping schedule for 3 months due my work, and my dream recall spiked dependant on how much I focused on it. Had dry spells, had normal days, and had days of extremely long dreams.

Since you seem to be in the same situation where I was, I'll share my "tricks" to get back to dream recall:

      - Changing my alarm sound. My last one was really pinching, so the first thing I would automatically do when I woke up was turning it off. Ofc my dream recall suffered because of this "stress" when awakening. Now i've changed it to a really calm music, and I will change it soon to only play for 10 seconds because I can easily wake up.

      - Try to find a balance for sleeping schedule. For example, some days I would leave work at 4am, others at 1am. What I did was I decided I would always go to bed at 4:30 am, no matter what kind of schedule I had. If you have the possibility to wake up late during the day, you should try this.

      - Doing ADA, meaning All day Awareness, you can find a great guide for it here. How would ADA help you? Just because you would be more aware, and if this habit carries into your dreams, you will notice far more details. More details= more chances to remember the dream! I use this when I'm absolutely in a bad streak of no recall and it always worked

      - When you wake up, stay several minutes trying to recall your dream or anything that pops into your head. I thought that if you couldn't remember the dream in 2minutes, then it was lost forever. This isn't true. Sometimes I would worry remember a single thing like "It was me and my friend". When I go to sleep and wake up in the morning, many times I'm like "oh wait, me and my friend were doing this!" Take your time for recall!

      - The last one, involves quite actually some effort, but at least me it works. For example, I leave work, take a bus home (like 30-40minutes trip), walk, etc etc, and when I reach home, I grab paper and pen and write everything that happened to me in the last hour. That way, I'm performing a reality check and I'm also making a effort to remember past memories.

Good luck, I'm sure you will start having a good dream recall soon
