      Hi !

Hey, just joined up and thought i'd say hello! My names Alex im 26 and live in Surrey UK . Ive been lucid dreaming for about 13 years now but their becoming a bit infrequent these days and want to improve things on that front so i can LD every night. My main thing is songwriting and singing, infact one of the reasons i want to improve my lucid dreaming is so that i can remember all the songs that i write whilst dreaming! I think the potential for this is so wide open and absoloutley fascinating! I'd love to hear from anyone who writes music this way.
Been keeping a dream journal since Monday and have been able to be lucid one out of two nights so far. I look foward to talking ot you guys! Bye for now! Alex

      Welcome to the forum!!
That is an incredible goal...that is just so cool you want to learn to do hobbies in your LDs! I bet that you'll do it though, b/c you seem very confident!

      Hello

      Hi Alex / AlKarva

Glad you have found the forum.
I have not been lucid dreaming for 13 years and I have been learning to play the guitar even less. So I am not real experianced, however my intersts as of late have been learning to play the guitar and I have always used lucid dreaming as a technique for inspiration for my artwork.
And recently with going over chords again & again in order to learn them I have tried to encorporate that into my lucid dreams.
I have had better success with HS or Hynogogic sounds. I keep a tape recorder next to my bed so If some giutar rythem comes out of nowhere I can hum into the recorder.
I am not sure if you are familiar with HI & HS but there is a little about it in the Tutorials in the Acronym list.
and there is a lot about it floating aroung the forum.

Good luck with your singing & songwriting!

      Welcome, Alex!

It's good that you've paid attention to your lucid dreaming and noble of you to decide to try and keep it up! Yes, dreams, even non-lucid ones, but especially lucid ones, have tons of opportunities for writing and music inspiration. I'm a writer and lyricist myself, and I have a bunch of stories and poems (potential songs, if I could write music too -- though sadly, I'm no good at that ) that began as dream scenarios. If you wouldn't mind sharing some of your "dream songs", I'd love to see them!

      OK, here are the basics:

Dream Signs and Recall, where you can discuss these things at length, how to better spot dream signs -- and not miss them in the first place -- as well as recalling your dreams, lucid and non.

Attaining Lucidity, where you can discuss how to better become lucid, and the pros and cons of all sorts of methods, and all kinds of and tips and tricks.

Dream Control, where you can discuss how to better control your dreams that do become lucid, and how to keep control and not lose it.

Lucid Experiences, where you can discuss recent lucid dreams, and what you pulled off, and what you came short on.

And of course, the quintessential Tutorials, which lists (by acronym) all of the tried and true official techniques used here at DV, complete with other topics of pertinence and troubleshooting for just about everything.

Also the equally quintessential Dream Journal section. Even if you already keep a dream journal, don't be afraid to create another, digital journal of your very own right here. There are options for making the entries private, if you really don't want others to see what you wrote about, so there's practically no downsides to having one.

I know you can easily access these forums on your own, and probably already have, but I just thought I'd link them all here for even easier access, complete with unofficial, unmissable descriptions, just in case.

      See you around!

Welcome, AlKarva You can never have too many people say hello. Everything's already been covered, so go get 'em! I love music and I've thought about experimenting with the same thing if my LDs become any more frequent.

I think we will get along well. I am a song writer too. I'm almost 27 and I always wanted to be a singer however I had three kids and I at least want to have my songs heard. If I can't sing them I want them heard.

      Hello AlKarva,

I have written a few songs from my dreams. My dreams are what really helped me decide I want to be a songwriter and singer. I am an average singer and I want to improve so I am starting to take classes. I have written many piano pieces from my dreams that are really short. I think music and dreams are the most wonderful combination together.

I wish you well in lucidity and your life aspirations,

      Yume Kotoarashiku.

      AlKarva welcome.

And yes, I have also used dreams for writing music. It is really effective.
I once did this experiment where I would go to the cd store and pick out my album and listen to it in a dream, and amazing music came out of it, and I was just blown away.

The only problem was when I woke up the melody and chords were really hard to remember, but the potential is there. I am convinced it can help you write music, and it can really help with your creativity and answering questions and all sorts of stuff.

Thanks for the warm welcome! I often dream that im listening to some music that i have made with my band and like you said Nirvarnastarseed it sounds absoloutley amazing!but i have never remembered the music. I try to make myself wake up so i can record it on my dictaphone (that i keep by my bed) but i often have a false awakening and dream that i wake up and record the song, doh! I wonder if these songs actually do sound as good in real life? If i do come up with anythything (thats good) i will definatley share them.

Wow, that is an awesome idea! I've always been a musician, but never been able to compose anything. Maybe I'll give this a shot.
