      Question about sleeping before WILD

Why is sleeping for 5-6 hours before attempting to WILD important? Is there any possible way of doing it without that much sleep beforehand? I'm asking because I share a room with my sister, and I can't set an alarm clock to wake me up in the middle of the night, because it'll wake her up too (maybe even everyone in my house). I've gotten myself to wake up during the night by telling myself to before I fall asleep, but nowadays I'm way too tired to get up that way. Should I just stop trying to WILD and try other methods?
I know WILDs are supposed to be the hard way of getting a LD, but I want to try it more than any other method. The idea of entering into a lucid dream from being awake, and all the vivid imagery and sounds is very interesting to me, and I really want to do it. I've had one LD that I remember, and it was a DILD. It wasn't as vivid as I would've liked, and I also think WILDs might get me better results.

So, there's no way to WILD without sleeping ahead of time, is there? Not even if you're really tired?

You can do WILD while having an afternoon nap. For WILD during the night, try drinking lots of water or something before going to sleep. You will have to wake up to go to the toilet and then try a WILD.

As the night goes on, REM cycles become closer together and longer. When you first go to sleep its meant to be 90 minutes on average before you get to the first REM cycle. Dreams are meant to occur at this time, so to get into a dream via WILD when you're just going to sleep, theoretically you'd have to lie their for 90 minutes before the dream started. The idea of going to bed later on is that the REM cycle will be longer and happen quicker. Also you are more relaxed and sleepy, which is an imporant part of WILD.

You can probably wake yourself up by willpower, without using an alarm clock. Obviously its not as reliable as an alarm, but its not that hard to do.
I spilled spot remover on my dog. He's gone now.

Some claim that it's possible to WILD in the evening if you can stay sharp for the 90 mins period of unconsciousness. Anyway, if it is possible, it's extremely hard. If you're too tired and exhausted to wake up with the help of self suggestion, I would also recommend napping. I haven't ever done it when napping, but I know that many people have, and for some people it might be even easier than in the night.
Don't think about those damn kangaroos.

Alright, this is cool, I just went to sleep this morning (I didn't sleep last night) and happened to get up 6 hours afterward.
So this is the small period of time I use thinking about LDs and whatnot.

      *does a reality check*

I'll let you guys know if it works.

Edit: Well, it didn't. My sister and her stupid friends keep sitting on my front porch and they're really loud, so I can't manage to relax when I try. If I can't keep my house quiet, should I just blindfold myself and get earplugs or something?
