      New one yet again

      Hi there!

I'm new to the Dreamviews and I've also have just started reading about lucid dreaming. I dream a lot and I've had a couple of lucid dreams in the past but in only 3 lucid dreams I've been able to manipulate them into becoming good experiences, that being said the rest were complete horror scenes after which I woke up panicking very badly.

Also I’d like to know a couple things if anyone would be so kind to answer these questions:

      - How do you deal with lucid dreams that you don’t have control over?
      - Is there any way to wake up earlier intentionally instead of having to get killed by your own imaginary thoughts?
      - What techniques are best to make you enter a lucid state in your dream and make them positive experiences?
      - Do you too write non-lucid dreams in your dream journal?
      - How often can I expect to have a lucid dream and how to increase the number of times to have one?

So the worst experience I’ve ever had was that I was being chased by a lion (hungry one ye know?), I knew that I was dreaming and I tried to not think about the negative things that could happen and so I of course started to think about them. The lion devoured my body and cracked my skull after which I luckily woke up.

I’ve never written any of these dreams down but that one I can still clearly remember due to me freaking out at the time ;P Anyhow, would anyone be so kind to answer my questions? I’d appreciate it a lot. (:

      Thanks in advance.

1 - You really can't do anything Except for enjoy the ride. Watch everything that happens, all the funny things that dream characters say, pay attention to the detail that your brain can create, feel how the atmosphere of your dream are different. Appreciate how wonderful lucid dreams are.
2 - There certainly are ways to wake yourself up from a dream - think of it like this, there are your body's eyelids and there's your waking body's eyelids. Try blinking and expecting to wake up. Dream control can transfer over to your waking body if you will it. Some people use different methods, just try what works for you.
3 - I can't answer this one exactly. You will see many different tutorials on this website, all drawing from the base foundations of each technique but also varying slightly because each person is different. For example, if I was good at MILD by simply repeating the mantra, the next person that's good at MILD may also use a mantra, but have to also use visualisation to achieve the same effectiveness. Personally, i prefer WILD and MILD, because it just works well for me. I recommend that you try each technique starting from MILD, I find that to be the most newbie-friendly technique.
      4 - I do. For a period of time (during school holidays), I didn't write down any dreams, but instead, when I woke up, I went over details of the dream. Writing down your dreams have two purposes;
      1) To improve your dream recall - This is important as you may have a lucid dream and end up forgetting it .__.
      2) If you'd like to use the DILD method, to find your Dream Signs.
5 - Practice your techniques! If you have a lucid dream one night, think about what you done using this technique. Slight differences in your technique that helps you will make it your own.

If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask them. Also, feel free to PM me.
      Welcome again!

      - How do you deal with lucid dreams that you don’t have control over?
Don't expect to be able to control all your lucid dreams. Control and lucidity are two separate things. Focus on controlling yourself and your own expectations in the dream. Expect a positive experience, and treat the dream as one.

      - Is there any way to wake up earlier intentionally instead of having to get killed by your own imaginary thoughts?
Try closing your eyes and trying to feel your body back in bed. Ignore the input coming into your dream-senses, and it will disappear. This might lead to a false awakening, where you just dream about waking up, but that is not a bad thing. You get to reset the dream and try again.

      - What techniques are best to make you enter a lucid state in your dream and make them positive experiences?
This depends on what you are good at and how you normally dream. Do you often have disturbing dreams and nightmares? It sucks to have all your lucid dreams begin as nightmares, and have to change them all to something positive. You could try using something like WILD to go directly into a lucid dream without losing awareness. You can learn to WILD during daytime naps, which might help prevent fear-of-the-dark feelings.

      - Do you too write non-lucid dreams in your dream journal?
You should write all your dreams in your dream journal. Even if the dream is uninteresting, it is still best to write a few notes, key words, or impressions.

      - How often can I expect to have a lucid dream and how to increase the number of times to have one?
You can have a lucid dream every time you dream. Realistically, you can expect to have a few a week. Most people don't find it practical or desirable to have a lucid dream every night. Check out the tutorials section in the wiki for some good guides to get you started:http://www.dreamviews.com/wiki/
