Wow, I don't know how you keep trying after so long without success!

I experienced (almost) the same. I had been trying for about three months without success, except for a half-lucid DILD when I first started. A lot of people say that for newbies, DILD or MILD is the way to begin. But they never worked for me, and you can't really do something definitive about your sleeping habits to induce a DILD. I wanted results, and I wanted them right away. I tried to WILD.

The first months were very disappointing, and I lost plenty of sleep. I committed several typical newbie sins of WILDing, including analyzing every single movement and thinking I was in SP, but wasn't actually. It was a lot of frustration and unhappiness--I wanted to WILD so badly, but every time the alarm woke me up I would rather fall asleep than spend an hour lying completely motionless, uncomfortable, battling itches and my own mind.

A few weeks ago I had my first WILD. It actually ended up being a nightmare, which deterred my efforts for a while. But I was still excited that I had reached my goal. Last night, I had another, very amazing one. I'm still relatively new to lucid dreaming, but I definitely learned a few things during my attempts. The biggest lesson I guess I would say you should keep in mind generally is that lucid dreaming is a singularly unique experience. You can read every single guide on here, ask all the questions you want, but lucid dreaming is your journey and experience. Guides by users like Puffin and Mancon are really great places to start in terms of getting the feel of what to expect and what not to do. But nothing explained the precise state of mind I'm in when I slip into a WILD, and when the vibrations hit and I opened my eyes into my dream, it was my experience only. The guides will tell you to reality check or how to troubleshoot, but that's only the base for you to build on and grow.

All right, enough sappy motivational comments! Good luck.
